So has this been fixed with the 1.1 MuLab patch? I can't delete plugs using the delete key on a Mac. Is there some way to do this....shouldn't this be a simple thing to do?

Vst Plugin Manager -> Delete key = deletes the highlighted item

It works fine here on the mac mini.

How does it work on other macs?

Weeellll, not working on my system running Panther 10.3.9. What would be helpful is a right click delete function added. :)

Strange!

I was waiting for your reply!

I've sent you a detailed email about this on 29 january.

It had an attachement.

Could that be the reason why you didn't receive it?

Post

Well, I never got the email....can you send it again?

Thanks for the log!

It seems that the osx key codes are not the same on all macs...

I'll have to research this more.

What type of keyboard do you have?

By the way: i also sent you this message via email last friday, but just received an error from your mail host: Blocked for spam.

Maybe this was also the case when i sent that previous message.

Jo,
I'm using one of those "teal green with black key" keyboards that came with those old Imacs from the late '90s and a Logitech mouse. This keyboard came with the G4 from the seller but is not the keyboard that originally shipped with the Gigabit ethernet models....I believe those were grey.
I do have heavy spam filters on my Pc because Comcast installs McAfee but try sending it again. I got that one and it was the same email address.

Gothboy, i looked deeper into this and i come to the conclusion that you have been pressing the "Backspace" key instead of "Delete" key.

If you want to delete unused plugin entries in the Plugin Manager, use the Delete key, not Backspace.

In MU.LAB, Backspace is NOT used as a Delete key.

I've always wondered why backspace was used as a delete key, when there is a delete key on the keyboard...

Maybe some historical mac reason..?

Post

I think chr(8) as erase goes back further than chr(127) as delete. Historically, chr(127) was seen as another interrupt character, like chr(3). Goes way back before the Mac to straight TTY days.

Thanks for the historical info :)

Interesting!

Anyway, imho nowadays the Delete key should be sufficient as the key for deleting objects/items.

It's clearly labeled "Delete" and that i like a lot.

Or do you think that also Backspace should delete any selected objects/items?

Is that "backspace = delete" thing something mac specific, or did it also occur on windows?

It's all about a detail. But i've learnt details are important.
