With no tweaking...an 8-note test in FL Studio gave me from 8 to 10%...a 16 note test sat at 16%...nice and low...but when I chopped(the 8-note file) I did get a spike at 87%(only spiking...she didn't stay that high the whole time)...It may be just because I used her in a really abnormal way, or it could be a P4 thing...or even still, it may have to do with Fruity's CPU meter...
I had the same nice low CPU hit in Cubase SX...I tried arpache and a few things to see if I got any spikes, but haven't gotten any yet...
Nothing else as of yet...back later after more...
Win2k SP4, P4 1.5, 512 MB, Audigy1-KX drivers

Hi,
OK give the instrument a little run through earlier.
The plugin seems stable enough in Cubase SX 1.05 and no real problems on that side of things (yet)
Firstly I will moan about the GUI, it would really help to have some reference to the values of some knobs (in particular the LFO speed) and the channel selection isn't obvious from the outset.
The sound seems to be ok though, I was getting anything from Organs, violins and fat strings sections out of it, although I found that the amplitude envelope was a little strange !?! And the release values in particular seem very short up to about 60%
One main complaint about the sound is that I found it to be a little quiet with the modulation effects switch OFF. Maybe a additional Master Gain would be good.
Also I found the CPU load to be reasonable at 8 voices and below, however above that and the load seem to grow exponetially. Which brings me to one other small niggle. When you adjust the glide setting it resets the voices to 1 and also does this if you click on the "A" button for automatic glide.
Also I found it kind of hard to make a great varitey of sounds from the small sample set so far.
My system is as follows;
Windows XP SP1
AMD Duron 800Mhz
768 MB Ram
SBLive! with Standard Drivers from Microsoft
Geforce2 G/C
S3 Savage G/C
I will hopefully get a bit more stuck into the plugin over the weekend as I am getting a new Athlon XP 1800+ tomorrow
Cheers,
DJJ

Stupid niggle, but you have a spelling error. Panel, not pannel on the warning screen.
The output gain knob affects output level when in bypass. If it's bypassed, I don't see why there would be an additional gain in the first place?
Any plans for what the delay times are for the echo as a readout, or BPM controlled by the host? Without it, seems I would simply always turn it off as it makes it useless at least to me.
Why is there such a discrepency of the volume meter in the interface and what's on the channel in my host? (Figured it out. Set volume for 'normal' instead of High, volume matches.)
Bug - When glide is turned all the way down, and voices of course set to 1, there sometimes is a 'click' in the audio, even when below clipping levels. Turn up the glide, or turn up the poly count, click goes away. Problem more apparent with Solina, not CX3.
Bug - If you switch the channel on the upper right while playing a note it gets stuck (IE switch from channel 1 to another channel, you get a permanent stuck note) To turn off note, I have to completely unload Eve out of the rack and reload it. Even turning off the 'power' for the plugin doesn't fix the stuck note. Second time I tried it, it unstuck the note after I reselected channel one and played a few notes.
Suggestion - automatically set voices to 1 when you "a"ctivate glide in the display.
Not having a manual might be the problem, but why do I HAVE to set the oscillator to channel 1 to get sound? The 2 and 3 on channels 2 and 3 make no sound until I switch it to channel 1. Wasn't sure what was going on with that.
System Info - Cubase SX 1.05.61, Pentium 4 2.53ghz, Pulsar II.

Note - My CPU usage is pretty consistant compared to DJJ. If I'm slamming the keyboard it'll bounce back and forth between 10 and 30%, and usually bounce between 10 and 20% during normal playing.
Plugin also loads fine into Brainspawn Forte Ensemble as a host as well.

Hi, Spent about an hour with it so far. I have sequenced up a track and made EVE the lead instrument. All seems fine until I hit the LP for each of the chans. I get a crackle(every note) and pop(random) when I play with it turned on, no matter which channel. As soon as I turn it off, everything resumes fine. One the CX3 preset, its not as noticable as on the Solina preset. Kinda throws the whole sound out. Basically you would not be able to use the Solina preset with the LP switch on.
With all 3 chans playing, it swallows 10% which is kinda reasonable considering its a sample player. It becomes very heavy on the cpu when all 3 chans are selected and on 16 voices. It goes over the 50% barrier. I noticed there is some issues with the voices. When the EQ is on and you have voices set to 16 it becomes very dirty (solina preset). I came across this when playing a sequence. It might vary from PC to PC.
I think the main volume should be dropped down a 1/4 or 1/3 by default but still retaining its current output. That gives the user the ability to increase the volume without the need of a 3rd party plugin, which obviously creates more cpu load.
Whats going to be going into those 3 black rectangles at the top? Some sort of LCD design or are you going to leave them blank? I think EVE is missing an important factor when dealing with vintage equipment. Resonance and Cutoff.
Overall it seems to be interesting but I think a greater variety of sounds would give us testers something more to test with.
Sys Info: Steinberg Nuendo 2.01, AMD XP2800+, Creamware Pulsar, 1Gb 400Mhz DDR RAM. Asus A7N8X, TC Powercore.

I would have posted something sooner, but it's been running stable for me so far. I was kind of waiting for something to go wrong before I posted, but maybe I should just go ahead and mention my good luck with the program so far.
I didn't want to give anyone the impression that I wasn't testing it, afterall.

William, when you go to http://europe.magix.com/index.php?id=411 , then click on free downloads on the top of the page, then click on demo versions download. There you´ll find Music Studio 7 (not Music Maker!). When you´ll have installed it, you´ll have two programs: Audio Studio (=Samplitude light) and Midi Studio which is in fact a light version of Logic 4.7. You can use this for testing Logic.WilliamK wrote:... sadly we can't do much about LAP since is not being suported anymore on PC, we can't even get a DEMO copy.

You can also go to http://europe.magix.com/index.php?id=234 , then do the same as I stated in my previous post. Then you´ll find Music Studio Professional. As far as I know, this is a full version of Logic Audio, but don´t know if it´s Logic 4.7, 4.8 or 5.x but you can detect this with a system report application after having installed the software.

Same for me. But I have a few comments to make though.
At first, I was expecting some more tweaking and I have been looking for hidden menus. But once I had accepted the 2 soundsets apparent limit, changed the enveloppes and effect settings, I started considering things differently. I now have a very nice slow attack CX3, a triple Solina... and I find the sound very inspiring (a bit Air-like) and so warm ! CPU seems to be working quite a lot (it peaks above 40% when layering 3 sounds - Athlon XP1600+ & Win98SE), but it is worth it.
I have read this morning that it is sample based... I would not have guessed.
Thanks (and I'll try to tweak it more this weekend to see how stable it is)

Hi,
Loaded up well, very clear and proffesional.
Launched Ok in Cubase 1.06. one instance used about 12 to 15% on my XP2100.
I tried 4 instances and all ran OK. I then tested with variuos other synths again OK.
Graphics are running smoothly with no glitches.
With regard to the synth itself I offer the following.
I think some form of numerical read-out for the LFO's
I am presuming that you will be offering more ensembles in the full version, what will these be?
Two more of the very tuneful modulators should be made available at any one time( giving a total of three). They are fine sounding and have a real controllable impact on the sound. Also the synths that are getting all the attention at the momment in the main have a lot of on board effects.
The screen layout does not seem to flow, but what is there is very easily controlled and a well written manual will sort this.

My system:
Celeron 2.4 GHz
1 Gb Ram
Terratec DMX6fire
When I turn all 3 channels on the CPU usage hits about 35% with about 3 notes played.
Tried it in Fruity 3.56 and Chainer and didn't find any bugs. Works just fine....I especially like the flanger effect

but the playback stopps after playing notes and pulling the glide controller to full! so i have to repress any key.

Hi William,
After reading the posts about problems with chainer, i tried it out on both my home and work PC's and did not have any Probs.
Just as an aside I have upgraded both my PC's with windows service pack 4 for windows professional to help protect me from the current round of virus's and since then I have been having a few problems with chainer loading some VST's.
Regards
Paull

3. I don´t know why, but now (after a reboot) all is ok in Chainer.AndreasEhrhardt wrote:3. Doesn´t load in Chainer, it only appears the window "Beta testing version ...". After that, closing Chainer crashes Chainer.
5. Generally I have the impression that tweaking many knobs doesn´t have an influence on the sound.
5. I was too fast with this statement. After activating some dedicated controls and a better understanding of the synth parameters, I do hear sound changes.
Sorry for that, William.
Another thing I noticed, playing note by note, often clicks can be heard.

There is another problem with EVE in Chainer: I can only play one channel of EVE at the same time, the one I´ve set as midi transmit channel in Chainer. When I set the midi transmit channel to ALL, I only hear channel 1 of EVE.
