EVE 2 ~ personal survey

Hi there,
I recently required a replacement hard-drive for my Receptor; Muse was unable to access data off my problem-drive, so I was in the position of using back-ups that were saved on my Mac. These were not as current as they should have been, but that's another story.
I had originally installed EVE 2, many months ago, when I discovered that the original EVE, that came with the unit, was quite problematic. When I received my updated (and upgraded) Receptor, EVE 2 was not present; I had to reinstall it according to directions from this site.
I have it operating just fine, but have not been able to get my own (previous) bank to be seen. It's the only one of my back-ups that won't work.
Now I've been communicating with Luigi @ Dash Signature, and he tells me he's heard nothing from anyone here about any bank issues...
Do you all have access to 5 or 6 Banks that came with EVE 2?
I only have the Default, and one that I've created.
Also, Luigi says I should be able to get them through EVE's GUI. Can any of you? When I try, I get only 3
If there were some way to include screen-shots here, I'd show you these examples...
Please let me know ~ Thanks

On my Receptor:
"EVE_2_##id.dll" is in Unsupported Plugins/Dash Signature/EVE2/
but the "EVE Banks" folder is in Samples/Dash Signature/EVE/EVE Data/
with the "Waveforms" folder, "Organs" folder and others.

I have lots of banksJayVee wrote:Anyone else?

when my receptor came back from Muse last year with ONLY K4 on it, I was somewhat selective about what I reinstalled. It didn't have ANY of the (mostly rather lame) "factory" stuff on there. No Eve.
I rediscovered Eve2 a few months ago, though. Installed it and all the extra banks I had purchased on my PC. Then I moved the whole EVE2DATA folder over to my Samples folder, and installed Eve2 on receptor as unsupported (having to create that XML file to get it to work).
the AOS and minimoog banks have some especially tasty stuff in them!

Thanks John,
So, you created an EVE2 data folder, or it creates one itself ~ as it installs?
When you installed EVE2 onto Receptor, (and after you and moved the EVE2DATA folder over to your Samples folder) did you place it in the Unsupported Plug-Ins folder?
How did you create that XML file?

Please ~ I need EVE 2 back.
I don't want to get into writing codes.
I have been able to re-install EVE (1)
I'd love to have access to the other banks that come with this later version, but mostly I need it to see the 12 customized patches from my previous Hard-Drive.
Can I do this without creating an XML file?

I will post my XML file for you later tonight when I can get some studio time.JayVee wrote:Please ~ I need EVE 2 back.

you must create it yourself. I moved the one from my PC to C:\Samples on the receptor. When installing (or first launching, can't remember which) Eve2 will prompt you to find that dir.JayVee wrote: So, you created an EVE2 data folder, or it creates one itself ~ as it installs?
I created eve2 dir under ./Unsupported Plugins/ and I think all I put there was the one DLL...will check later tonight to be sure.JayVee wrote: When you installed EVE2 onto Receptor, (and after you and moved the EVE2DATA folder over to your Samples folder) did you place it in the Unsupported Plug-Ins folder?

I just read your OP a little closer and now I think maybe when you say it doesn't see your old "banks" you mean your receptorized banks. This is a problem that can't be avoided when you use the XML file workaround and give the VST a new "unique number". in fact, when you do this, even FXP/FXB files created on the PC will not be recognized by receptor, since it relies on the ID of the VST to know which VST to install the bank/patch for.
So anyway, for what it's worth, here is the XML file I created to get a fresh Eve2 install to work for me recently:
http://hybernationmusic.com/receptor/EV ... m-info.xml
Like I said before, I moved the entire EVEData folder from PC to receptor, putting it in C:\Samples.
Then I put just the DLL and this XML file in C:\Program Files\VST Plugins\Unsupported Plugins\Eve2 and installed via normal unsupported method.
During install, you are prompted to find the EVEData dir.
Upon first run, you must enter the serial number. then you must unload/reload for it to recognize that you are not in demo mode. At that point, the GUI should be able to see all the banks in your /EVE Data/EVE Banks folder.
Sorry if you already know a lot of this
So, I even tried getting the REAL "VST ID" of 825374774 (sonar shows it to you in manage plugins) and that is what is in my XML file, but even so, FXP's saved from the host are not recognized by Receptor...not sure why.
And here is the big bummer. I have NO Receptorized Eve banks. When I try to save a receptor patch, it resets. I cannot create any banks in Eve or create any receptorized presets. So, cannot use Eve live obviously!
Anybody else have this issue?

What format do I use to place that XML file in?
When I click on your link, it opens like text...
I don't know anything about this aspect of VST's.
I actually find it nerve-wracking ~ 'the unknown'
Should I be getting a serial # from Dash Signature?

Right click on the link and do a "save as"...it will save with the XML extension and then you can just copy/paste it to the receptor.JayVee wrote:What format do I use to place that XML file in?

It's not so bad once you get used to itJayVee wrote: I don't know anything about this aspect of VST's.

You should have gotten one when you bought Eve2. Not sure if the dll that Liqih was giving away in the other thread required a serial number or not, but I know the purchased version of Eve2 does.JayVee wrote: Should I be getting a serial # from Dash Signature?

Hybernation:
So if I attempt to do this again (as I hope to this weekend)
I have no way of saving altered/customized patches?
Not even in an EVE 2 bank?

hmmm...I haven't actually tried saving an altered patch to an Eve 2 bank (in the Eve2 gui). Surely THAT will work. Will try it tonight and let you know.JayVee wrote:Hybernation:
