Any estimate when the non SE version of Sylenth 1 will be finished? Thanks.

I was just checking on the progress. I'd hardly call that impatient. I wasn't asking for your opinion so why don't YOU calm down?Lennard wrote: I'm working on a new version completely free of SynthEdit, I'm aiming to get it done by the first quarter of 2008.

Because synthedit causes bugs and also is not cross platform.lotus2035 wrote:Wasnt it just the GUI that had SE elements in it??...If so, who gives a f*ck??..
Sylenth as it stands is as good as they come..
We're people who cannot buy/use this synth because until SE is purged from sylenth's code, we cannot use it.

I have used and still use many plug-ins that are made entirely in synth-edit. Some of them are very CPU-efficent and stable. I've read that SE caues problems for multi-core users however, and of course it doesn't work at all on Macs.
I'm still looking forward to non-SE version of Sylenth1. Hopefully, Lennard will have time to add some other user-requested features in the next version. Also, with the big task of rewriting the synth without SE completed, more time and effort can be spent on improving the functionality and adding features.

Apparently "Just to Wrap the GUI" is a bit misleading. It sounds like all that needs to be done is use the VST SDK to manage the gui elements. However as witnessed in this case it appears that a total re-write is needed. I've said it before, if you can code in C++ etc then there is NO benefit to the the end user at all in using S.E. even if it's just to wrap the gui. There are many many fantastic S.E creations out there made by some brilliant people but there are disadvantages in using Synth Edit. In my opinion Sylenth 1 is one of the most impressive instruments to ever be "saved as" in Synth Edit. I can only imagine how much better it will be when 100% hand coded.lotus2035 wrote:Wasnt it just the GUI that had SE elements in it??...If so, who gives a f*ck??..

Going on seven days without an official response. Not good news.

Actually there's good news, I've been busy lately with the Mac/non-SE version and making good progress. I've just managed to read all SE parameters so it will be 100% compatible with version 1.2x
I expect the new version will be ready within 2 or 3 months.
I expect the new version will be ready within 2 or 3 months.
It's not a total rewrite, but I needed to rewrite the entire voice management and inter-module communication which was quite a tedious job. Also, I needed to jump through some hoops to work around SE's limitations to get the voice management right in the previous versions so I needed to rewrite those parts again too. Plus ofcourse the entire GUI with its almost 300 parameters..Teksonik wrote:It sounds like all that needs to be done is use the VST SDK to manage the gui elements. Any significant changes to the GUI, like color-scheme, layout, skins and so on?
