Or maybe it is, and Muse gets to feel the heat of competition. It would certainly spice things up I think :)

will be checking out on friday and/or saturday :D

but I truly believe my RECEPTOR is still the king

The video makes it sound like they think authorizing plugs won't be any big deal.
Where have we heard that one before? Are they listing any known compatible plugs, or are these boxes just mock-ups and vaporware?

Also I'd like to hear more about the claim that since there is no Windows OS onboard a 1 GHZ processor performs the same as a 2 GHZ processor on a Windows machine.

This is fantastic! They'll be shipping this well before the next Muse update. :)

$399 euro! Sick.

And so the battle begins :p

So the V-Rack comes with 300GB HD, the V-Box has 2GB RAM but you need to supply your own drive via USB 2.0. I would imagine this would rule out using V-Box for disk streaming plugs like Ivory.

V-Rack estimated at $1800 so it looks like a contender with Receptor. I guess the whole thing depends on it's plug in acceptability and ability to easily upgrade the motherboard and CPU.

Maybe Hybernation had an inkling when he sold his Receptor hehe?

I checked it out today and I'm not sure if they're really serious about it

authorization:
they say ANY plugin can be imported without any problems....
no big deal ??!?! time will tell ... :hihi:

btw: funnily enough they could only present freewares to me and just a handful of commercial ones ...
and they couldn't/didn'T want to be more specific regarding authorization and all the important details... ignorance ? :hihi:

but I must admit: the v-pedal is a cool thing and looks nice !

Absolutely correct to be VERY skeptical at this point.

The video talks about "loading VST .dll files" like it is no big deal. However, especially people who are knowledgeable about the Muse Receptor understand, loading .dlls IS a big deal.

With simple plugs, usually freeware (as has been shown with the Receptor) one CAN simply copy a Windows VST .dll file and it will work. Unfortunately the vast majority of VST and VSTi plugins people want to use require alot more Windows OS components than just a .dll file.

I get the impression that Muse (over the last few years) has had to replicate more of the Windows OS over time to support various VSTs/VSTis. One can only imagine Muse's "Direct Install" has mimicked alot of Windows OS functionality (e.g. at the very least part of the Windows Registry).

did anyone of you guys attend the "demonstration" ?
was more like a comedy-show  :help:

My B.S./Vaporware alarms are going off at full blast here.

Have they been more specific about their OS? Is it a stripped down customized Windows XP, another Linux app or a custom OS? If they are using some form of Windows they might be able to avoid some of the compatibility problems the Receptor has, but they might well encounter a lot of Windows based instability and other problems that the Receptor has avoided. How long does it take one of these boxes to boot up? Do they remember the last set of plugs that was active?

Why dismiss it as BS until we know the full facts. Im sure Receptor had it's unbelievers when it was shown at NAMM or whatever. Don't shoot it down yet.

Hmm, it looks interesting. Im not too happy with my receptor right now (ie. it doesnt work) and am close to jumping ship. If its more reliable than the receptor (which given my personal experience, is likely) then im sold.
