NEW BETA UPDATE 8

Guys, thanxs for the tests so far, you can't imagine how much it helped us streaming down some bugs and also improving the synth.

IMPORTANT! I did some changes on the presets list, altought you can still load "old" presets on this version, is better if you do a fresh song/project instead. Some new features won't work if you don't insert the plug again on the song (unload and load again without loading "old" presets)
  • Fixed a problem that on Mono mode the LAST note was not getting
    Off.
  • Last and First notes of the Mini-Keyboard now works.
  • KeyZones now shows perfectly in tune with the mini-keyboard (the
    same positions)
  • Midi note learn for the key-zones, right click it.
  • Right-Click each Key-Zones to see the exact notes used for Low and High and also a RESET option
  • Mid learn now opens on the exact mouse position (right click on any parameter on the screen)
  • Small updates
Best Regards, WilliamK

William! :) you are indeed a prince among men! great going... off to get the beta 8 this minute!

sometimes you are faster than I can believe!

Post

beta 8 is great... :) so far... still only in chainer so no saved songs in SX yet, but it's running nicely and everything I've tried works as advertised so far...

great work on the keyzones William, that really makes setting what ya want fast and easy!

I am wondering if you have compiled this with that optimiing compiler on beta 8... reason I ask is that it's not hard to get it up to 30% cpu and even a little over with 16 voices and fx and mod's.... of course less voices helps... but just wondering if we can expect any less cpu useage or if EVE [true to her name] wants to take over the whole garden of CPU?

I am really liking this Lady though and she sounds just lovely now.

hope to get into SX and NOT crash later tonight.

man, presets are gonna be wild in EVE! are there anymore sample choices planned?? [not complaining, just curious]

I did notice a little something... but not sure if it's my system or EVE...

when using the Rotary mod, [I had it just on a solo'd voice to clearly hear the effect while setting it] and I had the mod knob on that voice set up about 3/4 toward maximum on the voice channel, there was some slight static sounds... until I noticed the 'run' button... when I hit the run button the static went away and after that, even turning run off did not bring it back...

the static did not happen on single notes but only with two or more notes played at once...

Beta 8,

What can I say, great job !!!!!

Been playing with it for a good 45mins solid and can't make it behave badly !!!!

Another new logo ??? A prefered the beta 7 logo. Also your new logo is VERY similar to Eve records logo (can't remember the website)

One little thing I did spot though  When you adjust the autoglide function from either the menu or the button, the other one doesn't change also. i.e If you select Autoglide off in the menu, the light is still on by the glide knob.

OK more testing tomorrow

Cheers,
DJJ

Ohh, good point, I will remove the AutoGlide Menu from the global-menu. We will also rename the A knob to something else.

Thanxs for the comments bud. :D

thanks for the comment, I was exactly trying to get some attention on the logo, <grin>

since we are fighting to choose one , LOL

so the "EVE" blue one, or the "eve" yellow one, or the last 3D "eve"?

I'll check the Eve records too,

BTW for the auto Glide I thought to use a button with "Tied" as text,
since it works for tied notes, (one some keyboards this feature is named "fingered"), would that be good?

We rae also preparing a big display for knobs value, a bit like the daAlfa2k one but bigger and with more features.

IMPORTANT REMINDER

As stated on every new beta-testing, the current version is not yet suitable for doing presets. We are working on a pre-release version that will have properly name-formats and proper presets-format so you can start using it for preset creation and real song creations. ;)

Just a reminder.

Hi,

Thanx for the reminder William :-D

Also I have to say so far I still can't find anything wrong with beta v8. Which is a good thing of course, but I was having fun trying to break it !!!!

Also with regards to the logo, I preferred the 3D'ish Yellow one

Cheers,
DJJ

8 is behaving well! No more Cubase SX saved project crash...
Now it's all really just down to the anomalies in the samples...

Post

William? Could you pretty please let me use my sustain pedal with EVE? ;) This a bug?

Also, the boxes around the knobs on the right look great! Don't like the new logo, like the older ones better. :)

Otherwise, nothing else I can find wrong so far. I'll keep digging. ;)

Ok, more problems, but can't remember if this was reported before or not, so sorry if I just missed it. :)

Turning echo 'on' sometimes gives a 'click' in the audio. Also, I'm not sure what the 'degrade' is supposed to do with the echo, but I guess the 'hiss' in the playback is supposed to be normal? I notice if you turn up degrade all the way, you get some strange clicks and buzzes. Was that your intention for the weird extra 'noises' with that turned up all the way?

So far so good. Beta 8 is the stablist so far. I think once the presets thingy is updated, then we will know where it stands. As for the logo, I think the blue will be better due to EMM having some yellow/gold in it. Its nice to see different colours on the screen :)

Post

DevonB, the click on turning ON the delay is normal, it would take more CPU to just remove it, and since is only when you turn ON/OFF maybe is not a big deal. ;) The Degrate emulates a true TAPE-ECHO device, making noises and distortion. Is fun to use with some sort of music.

We are doing for Beta-9 a Tool-Tip option that will explain each parameter without the need to rush for the manual. :D

The DIGITS are also almost ready, and it will show each parameter value by just moving the mouse over it.

Dear EVE Beta-Testers, Klaus from Back In Time Records here. Thanks for testing not only the EVE functions. Your comments concerning the samples are valuable. Here my statements:

>>>
>>>
I'll list the safe ones first and the problem ones after...
Solina is perfect...
Suit88 seems to be ok...
CX3 from G5 to C7 there's the noise I mentioned before but it doesn't seem as loud...I've heard this same kind of noise on some free soundfonts I've d/led before too...kind of like what you hear on your speakers when your cell phone interferes...
<<<
CX3 has some noise on specific keys, like the original Hammond. But it depends on the drawbar setting.
>>>
73 does not sound like the same instrument all the way across the board as it seems slightly brighter or a tinge louder in some areas...
<<<
Usually each key of the Rhodes sounds slightly different to the next, and one Rhodes model might be different to another one, even if it´s the same type (73 MK1, MK2, etc.). A better consistence over the keyboard is possible by using more samples. The EVE download version is rather small MB sized and a lot of instruments are there, so we´ve made a compromise here. Concerning the loudness we´ll check this issue though. It´s possible to rescale the loudness of each sample and to replace the mentioned samples.
>>>
PE2 has a slightly different kind of noise, just an unclean sound from D4 to C5
<<<
It´s the instrument.
>>>
B-3 seems mostly ok, but when I hit middle C she seems rather flat...that may just be the nature of that particular sound though...
<<<
This is right. Each key of a B3 is different to the next. Some have a lot of extra noise, some have really strange harmonics, some are flat. But depends on the drawbar setting.

>>>
73 --> F0 to F1 seem dull compared to the rest of the keyboard
<<<
Yes, it´s the instrument.
>>>
73 --> F1 to F3 this zone has a difinate "click" at the start, obviously just a more dominant attack in the sample. But it is very noticable.
<<<
Should be checked. If too strange it should be cut.
>>>
PE2 --> C#1 to C#2 seems to be a softer timbre than the rest of the keyboard.
<<<
Maybe ;-)
>>>
Suit88 --> G#2 --> G#3 has a a noticably larger "hammer" sound at the attack stage of the samples. Again this stands out quite a bit.
<<<
Right, it´s the instrument. These effects will occur in the EVE PRO-Version as well. But we´ll care for this key range, probably we´ll replace with a different sample for a better consistence.
>>>
Wurli --> C#4 & upwards sounds duller than C#3 --> C#4. Again this sounds like a "hammer" sound nuance.
<<<
Same like Rhodes.

Thanks to your comments we´ve decided to provide an “EVE Instruments Guide” (PDF file) in addition to the regular Owner´s Manual. The Guide will show all sampled instruments with photos, specification and closer descriptions and performing topics.
