I guess that anyone who's *played* the patches, checked out the MSEG/Osc templates and read the pdf will agree that 42$ US are a steal for this package! That's approximately 35€ including 19% VAT...

As with every HS patch, it's very important to try ModWheel and Aftertouch on each of them...

;) Urs
can I buy it for cheaper without all that other stuff? I just want the presets?

I bought them last night against my better judgement and stayed up far too long, considering today is a working day...

Howard's Science sounds are

Zebra 2 + Howard + Michael is a lethal formula against all intentions not to buy yet another sound collection...

Thanks, guys!

Then you got reamed twice... once for buying the synth.. twice for buying the cartridge.. HiHi Razz

seriously though you cant compare that with this.. Z2 costs $199, your prophet VS was 11 or 12 times more expensive... I'm not debating either point with these patches.. only that your argument doesn't seem to fit this situation and I'm looking forward to more effort by you next time, mister.
Nope, no reaming took place, because that was in 1987 and hardware synths were the only game in town back then. Point simply being that the cost of admission these days to get some great synthesizers and a great collection of patches is fairly minimal compared to what it was when I started out. In those days, you didn't get into making electronic music unless you were fairly serious about it, because it was an expensive endeavor.

Don't look forward to too much "effort" on my part in constructing posts on message boards, though...a few minutes here and there to glean some info and make a few passing comments is about all the time I can dedicate to such things, LOL.

Nice, but I would like to hear a sound sample showing sounds by category (Pads, Leads, Etc..).

I've played with the signature sounds, but is there a sample somewhere of the Zebra2 sounds he programmed for Batman - The Dark Knight?

We have an mp3 somewhere with pretty much all patches playing a short phrase... it's extremely boring, but I can try to upload it...

I'm afraid we have to wait till the movie / soundtrack comes out

I only know 15 out of 100+ patches and I must say they are insane. Howie has always been into simple sounds, but his new "cinematic" style with evolving crazyness is so beyond... I'll ask him to create more of these... one needs breath controllers and stuff though... highly mutating...

The good thing about the soundtrack is, my last info is that *all* synths are Zebra (Howie has recreated the Virus patches Hans wanted to use). Hence Zebra should be easily distinguished from the orchestra, except maybe for the timpanie which may be both.

wait... the what now?

I must've missed that bit of info. Apparently I've been living under a rock... on mars.

Well, the wording made me think maybe I missed something :-)

"If you like Howard's new presets, or the Zebra2 sounds he programmed for Batman - The Dark Knight (opening July 2008)..."

Can't wait to see the movie and also hear the Zebras.

Thanks, I don't mind if it's boring, (I also make some boring songs) This way I can hear with more detail and if will fit in my style.

It's highly boring... and it doesn't show how expressive/tweakable (ModWheel etc.) most of these sounds are...

That's approximately two thirds of the set...

I dunno about the 'boring' bit... It really does showcase a lot of variety! :)

I'm at just over 4 minutes of the mp3, and already reaching for my credit card.
