heheh, I have the other book:
http://www.amazon.com/Processing-Creati ... gy_b_img_b

both are fantastic. neither of them really deal with audio though, at all. I'd recommend just poking around online through the libraries and explanations. better yet, there's a method for hooking processing up to supercollider.

This last was only available on Linux and Mac, I think. Has that changed?

Still looking for time-evolving noise generators here.

Soundborb might work.
Also, if you have a midi file, you could use any cool freeware vsti and loop it. Then use randomizing midifx and vst fx chains to create said sound. It might be a little more work and a little more CPU (a little), but it could also be free. I bet Runagate or someone like that could show an effects chain like that.

Or you could save up your pennies for Reaktor. :)

^I just picked up reaktor 4 in the marketplace for a very good price so it's worth keeping your eye out, maybe something will come along.

are you looking stricly for VST? if not this website has some standalone goodies. most require that you provide samples, but the generation is automated.

ive found my old version of reaktor session, yesterday, and even if you cant get all the fancy synths and sound-generators that are made for reaktor 5,it is still a very useble program

It would probably work really well with everything until one of your VSTs started playing up, then it would hit that VST with teh quoth.

That would learn it.
:hihi:

Yes I do have the impression that it's the VSTi to end all VSTis...

Reaktor Session is an alternative... but on the other hand, it's already expensive and if I ever want to actually program sounds, I'm better off with the full version I guess.

You can upgrade from Reaktor Sessions for 239 € and might get Sessions cheap on ebay in about 22 hrs:

I once got mine (Reaktor 3) really cheap from ebay as well, change of license is free and easy with NI.
