A little over a week left in 1st Quarter.
8 months left until fall.
Thanks for the update, but it's still unacceptable.

Am I the one who's disappointed in this?

Nope, but I've got a good number of useful (free) plugins that are working and ready to be put to good use with the rest of my gear. I'm pretty well occupied, but my usage needs are not likely the same as yours.Talk Show Host wrote:Am I the one who's disappointed in this?
I am definitely eagerly awaiting a Direct Install method that tops the current basic command line WINE one. We'll see how it pans out.

I look forward to Direct Install as well, but have not nearly explored all the possibilities of the Plugs I have. And I continue to enjoy using Ivory, Pianoteq, B4II, Scarbee VKG, Pro 53, Kontakt 2, and the many other plugs that currently perform well on Receptor.

Agreed, but I still have Komplete 5 sitting around waiting to be installed on my Receptor.
In December, I was told January. In February, I was told March. Now anytime before fall?
I spent WAAY too much time messing with registry codes and other nonsense.
I tried bekenone's methods, but quite frankly, I'm no good with Linux.

I got this reply from Erik Luper on the Yahoo boards Wednesday...
Re: Direct Install
Starting beta on Direct Install for Komplete 5 soon, and I will keep
you posted as to when Direct Install should drop, it will be followed
by 2.0 after that. It will probably take a while though, since they
will be trying to make sure that all setup and.exe files work as expected.

Talk Show,
I totally understand the frustration, and registry codes and Linux - not for me either. I hope you'll get Komplete 5 off your shelf and into your Receptor soon - before Komplete 6

blah ..
If I'm able to save up for and buy a new Macbook Pro before this gets released (or if it's released and I still can't use my non-dongled Arturia stuff), my Receptor may find it's way onto ebay. Now that I have a newborn, my time for tweaking and hacking has gone from little to nill ... whatever I use now just has to work! I can wait for products to work .. my projects can't!

The new Macbooks are crazy fast, especially with 4GB of RAM. I have a 2006 Macbook Pro with a separate user account for running live VSTs. Try disabling all the "bells and whistles" like hiding and shrinking the dock, disabling system sounds, etc.
Really wicked. I predict even faster models coming out in August.

my girl just got a 2008 macbook, 2.4 w/ 2gig ram .. i'm gonna put the heaviest synth on there I own .. which is probably the Jupiter 8v, and see how it handles it. Maybe I don't need a macbook pro after all ..Talk Show Host wrote:The new Macbooks are crazy fast, especially with 4GB of RAM. really? well if I know apple at all, they may announce, but they won't ship till feb '09. Either that or as soon as I buy one the new ones will be announced .. that's usually par for the course
prob. won't wait till august .. too many cool gigs coming up this summer that I want to use the Arturia stuff on.

I can certainly understand the needs for a newborn (seems when I had my two, installing software was the only thing I had time for!).
Even with Muse's Direct Install, I expect problems with Arturia plugs, as they look for the Install CD when the plug executes (not just when it installs.
This article does describe how to make the (non-dongled) Arturia plugs work natively. It does not require messing with the registry (to install - but you do to update), but you do need to open the hardware and you do need to do some Linux commands. If you are somewhat computer saavy, or perhaps have a friend that is, this is not very difficult to do.
I assure you, having these plugs available on Receptor is a wonderful thing. Also, learning this technique does considerably open Receptor up to a greater variety of unsupported plugins.
Regards,
Kevin L
