The long awaited Garritan Authorised Steinway D Virtual Instrument is now available and shipping, priced $399 for the Pro version which comes as 67GB on five DVDs with a nice colour printed manual. Hands down the best piano plugin in the world.
This runs stand-alone (with MIDI file player and WAV record/export) or plugin mode (inc VST) and we've been reliably informed by Gary Garritan himself that Muse Research have already received a copy and are looking into making it Receptor compatible.
Anyone at Muse able to comment on progress so far? Or keep us updated...?
In theory at least, if Direct Install does what it's supposed to do, this would automatically allow the Garritan to be installed on Receptor, but as usual it remains to be seen whether there will be any issues, or indeed if Muse will actually relase it anytime soon, as promised...
Currently, using the older technology of specific Receptor installers, Ivory, Pianoteq and BestService Galaxy Steinway 5.1 will work on Receptor, but other significant piano plugins like BestService Galaxy II, Bluthner Digital Model One, TruePianos, EastWest Quantum Leap Pianos and of course, Garritan Steinway are currently not supported.
It would be marvelous if Direct Install could, in one fell swoop, make all of these compatible!
Also hardware updates are long overdue.
Although expensive, a nice Solid State Hard drrive SSD would be a great optional upgrade for Receptor.

Read your post, I just found the Bluthner Dig One and really like what Ive heard so far....was checking here to see, just by chance....ahem...if it would work on my Rec pro jr....Im using Ivory, which feels fantastic, but requires quite a bit of work to get it to sound decent in a live setting..and I did get my Jr to be a piano module...I hope muse addresses some of these piano sample products..
