heh :D

I really look forward to a day when XT2 gets some major new features, not just bug fixes. It's been a while since anything that special has been added...
one guy against 3 platforms (linux, mac and pc)
I know it's probably not as important as some of those other outstanding bugs, but it didn't make sense to have multiple sequencer arrangements but only really be able to use one of them.
please tell me why would somebody use two sequencers in xt2?
thnx

Because that's the power of the whole modular thing.
If you haven't noticed, the users who bought ext1 are people who are really into the weird routing thing (which is what ext1 was kind of made for).

With two sequencers you could make two arrangements of the same song in one project, without losing the other, it's nice for live jamming, etc...

ext1 let users to stuff that is nearly impossible with other hosts :hail:

Well, there could be a number of reasons, but I wasn't commenting on two sequencers, I was commenting on sequencer programs. You only need one sequencer to have multiple sequencer programs.

But I don't think you're asking about that.

Sequencers are basically another modular building block in XT2, so it depends how you are going to use the application as to whether multiple sequencers are going to be useful or not. Those people who liked using midi parts or audio parts in XT1, may end up using multiple sequencer components to achieve the same aim - sophisticated loop players for example.

Now in XT1, I nearly never used audio or envelope components, but I'm sure there are many people who got a hell of a lot of use out of them.

Yes that and loading XT as a VST ;)

not everyone - not me for instance, not at all... ;-)

Accidentally I split the following three posts, which actually should have stayed here - I'll delete them in the split thread:

Like??

Personally.. Plogue Bidule has totally taken over EnergyXT duties for me.
ret wrote: Luckily I said "nearly impossible".. :hihi:

Basically I meant the whole concept of how everything could be done in xt1.
Amberience wrote: hmmm... well, luckily with Plogue, every host can now have modular madness :hihi:

My apologies to Andy and ret.

- Added support for normalize audio files

now added to the list

I really hope he gets it right this time... :-)

why?

what happened last time?

well, basically the implementation in 1.x is nonsense - that's all... :hihi:

Ahhh,

not much of a normalizer my self so i never noticed :)

Yeah, I think the Borgen must have had a complete malfunction due to an electric shortcut or something when he implemented it... :hihi:

Cut out a snippet of a sample and normalize it - eXT will

- analyze the whole file

- make a normalized copy of the whole file no matter how small the snippet is
- if the whole file does already peak at 0db eXT will do it anyway

- in this case of course nothing at all will change for the snippet

- but depending on the cpu-load it will take ages, because eXT doesn't stop the engine even if playback is stopped.

- and if you normalize another snippet eXT does the same again, which means another file is created, which is again a normalized copy of the whole file i.e. identical to the one which has already been created

So if you want to normalize two small snippets, with each having a length of (say) half a second, out of a multitake recording which is (say) 40mb in size then eXT will create two new 40mb files with both being absolutely identical, and chances are nothing will change at all for these snippets you actually wanted to normalize (or if at all the gain-increase will be often minimal)*. :nutter:

But of course I've already explained this more than once - let's see how this new implementation works... ;-)

*You can of course first trim the snippet and then normalize it, but this will lead to the unnneccesary creation of another file - surely still the better option though.

Shortcircuit. That would be a good name for a VST plugin, come to think of it... :ud:
