Yeah, totally - not having a multi-core cpu myself I still think it's mandatory - imagine only being able to use half, or even worse, just one quarter of your actual cpu-power, only because you were stupid enough to make that aplication your chosen one.AllenPOPO wrote: I would have preferred a "nothing else until multicore" type attitude

I kind of agree, but I'm not complaining about getting right click->add VST back.AllenPOPO wrote:hmmm...interesting. for all intents and purposes, I would have preferred a "nothing else until multicore" type attitude, as i know its high on the list, on both ends im sure, but sometimes i guess some things need to be fixed before others can.
It's a rave, Lewis!

Since xt2 came out im so used to using the left side browser to find my vsts that i dont consider this to be such a big deal
Having said that, ive been using xt1 the last few months, so ive been using the right click menu most recently.
Its not a very high priority personally.

great news!
the *option* to use left and right mouse buttons for left and right locator would be great... it was one of my favorite features in 1.4.
multiple core support would be great... but it's probably a pretty complex task (especially on multiple platforms) that can cause all sorts of bugs... so i'd rather wait a little longer and have it properly implemented, rather than having to endure something like xt2.06 again.
edit:
2.06 being the february 1st release... the march 1st release is also listed as 2.06 in the beta page

Yes, this was something that I didn't miss... until it dissapeared.tibor wrote: the *option* to use left and right mouse buttons for left and right locator would be great... it was one of my favorite features in 1.4.
The drag method works nicely for some things, but if you're looping a large area and just want to make a small adjustment to the left or right loop ends, the XT1 method was much better.
(iirc, there _is_ a way to do this in XT2, but I can't remember how it was done)

HI
I am not complaining about a lack of multi-core support (my quad-core hasn't gone over 30% on a sigle core with loads of plugs running inside XTV2), but what I will say (again!) is that if XTV2 is starting to reach the masses then Jorgen could do a lot worse than move along to this feature ASAP: I think single CPU core set-ups are quickly becoming a thing of the past - I mean, everyone seems to be a power user these days with the prices of hardware being so low (in relative terms).
Flipper.

I'm not sure about anyone else, but one of the things I thought XT2 was being rewritten from scratch was to flesh out the background processes better to support newer things, like multiple processors. I honestly thought part of the rewrite was so that things don't have to be "hacked" into the XT1.4 codebase... Things like new interfaces aren't really hacking I suspect, though I haven't seen the source-code. Usually when one wants/needs to rewrite from scratch, the foundations are of a nature where it's cleaner and better to do so. Foundations such as audio engine and processing methods... Which include multiple processor support.tibor wrote:multiple core support would be great... but it's probably a pretty complex task (especially on multiple platforms) that can cause all sorts of bugs...
So... In all seriousness, I thought part of it was (and I'm sure I read a post from Jorgen hinting at, if not directly stating, this) to get multiple core functionality working better, more integrated into the system.
However, I might have read what I wanted to into it, instead of what was actually there. Nevertheless, the best time to include multi-processor support is when writing the foundations, because the best usage of it happens when it is taken into account for the whole processes. Well, I'm not a long time programmer, but I have read that from programmers. Maybe that's purely opinion only from some, but it makes logical sense to me. However, it has not yet been done and I myself would have tried to get some of that function in there from the start, in order to simplify the process for me later on, because I would have structured my threads expecting multiple core usage, instead of not. I leave you with that thought.
