no man. there are a lot of good people here who would be willing to take on the challenge. it's just that i probably won't be able to do it, which might be a very good thing actually. i messed up big time. (i'm going to work on the remedy tomorrow btw)Optomadic wrote:Sounds like the beginning of the endtuz wrote:i seriously doubt i will have time to do another one...i've been missing out on a lot at kvr. makes me really upset that i cannot spend any time here. i don't know where this will end. i'm just tired man.

We all mess up, the world don't stop, what kvr needs is a system, and if you doing something as important and time consuming as the DC, you should be compensated and so should kvr. O.K. who wants to see another plug in, well it's not that everything almost imaginable hasn't been done, but we as DEVS need to keep pushing the ideas of this audio stuff until it reaches utopia, you know like um "like the evolution of man 500 million years of trial and error, well we're still in error, but you get my point."

Hi,
Perhaps we should simplify the DC or change it.
1- I'm not sure than all devs participate for the prize, it should be secondary.
I participate for the challenge to know the users, also to communicate etc... (sure if I had be the winner it was great for my ego...)
But my products already exist with or without the DC...
The prize it's great but one prize for 41 entries, where is the gain ?
We can create proportional prizes
eg: if the total is 2000$, we divide 2000 by the total of votes eg: 2000/4000 (I don't know the real number)=0.5$ per vote
If a dev has 450 votes, 450*0.5=225$
It's not fun for the winner but it's more fun for all.
2- or create sub challenges by category: Apple users, FX, Synth, Other, etc, with one person to manage it.
3- the upload and download space should be manage by each devs.
4- create a challenge with several web sites.
5- create a web site but linked with KVR.
I'm not sure that's help you but I like the DC and the KVR forum, it's really good for the freeware devs, etc...
Thanks for all you do, Tuz

the dc is one of the few ways freeware development gets publicity. music consumers around the world are still walking into music shops or going online only to be pointed toward commercial products. there are still people out there who don't realise that freeware exists in the prolific state it does.
if anyone has a better plan for getting attention for what is essentially a new paradigm, i'd like to hear about it.

Hi guys, hi kx77,
let me answer to your proposals, everybody should do that:
for example, prices for the first 10 instead of just the first..
+1!
this is pretty doable!
I don't think these are necessary, the KVR space is already good for the whole competition,
and the proper space since there's already all the people interested here, IMO
cheers,
Andrea

That would be useful, take a load off the organiser. Unless what's being uploaded needs to be monitored, maybe tighter controls on updates this year (no new features just bugfixes!
Agreed, other sites will dilute the KVR focus.-14- create a challenge with several web sites.

Well I like the ideas so far, I'm up for the challange, but not up for maintaining the whole challange. That is way out of my scope as a dev.
As far as the prizes go I haven't seen my prize if I won anything last year. Not much intrest tho since I ended up as low as I did.
