Well crap maybe i should always just create a drum line & a single rhoads part and only mix for 15mins. I've been wasting hours. :)
hehe - I was only complementing on the sound though - the music is promising but of course nowhere near finished... :-)

What EQ's are you using?
.

URS CSP
So a combo of
1951 Program EQ - Tube = Pultec (for the low bands)
1967 Console EQ - American 4 Band = API (For mids/high attack mids)
1970 Console EQ - British 3 band Class A = Neve (highs 6k plus)
1972 Console EQ - British 4 band Class A/B = Neve (highs 6k plus)
1980 Console EQ - British 4 Band = SSL (Rarely Sometimes to dirty up the high mids)

Thanks - Nice!!

Is there any chance of these compressors having presets?

Thanks for the compressors !

I tried them today, and they sound so good.

Im no compressor expert, never had a realy good hardware compressor, except for some pedals ( im a guitarist ), but I know when a plug enhances my work without messing my original sound ( like so many plugs do )

Maybe 1 month ago I was about to spend money in a UAd , but after discovering the StillAudio stuff, Bootsie , and yours my lust for that as pass. :)

Add the Voxengo Pristine Space and im covered for the basics.

If this native stuff sounds good , no need to spend more money ( and headhaches ) with hardware stuff, imho.

I'm enjoying these compressors a lot. Sound great, quick tweaking.

Nice.. I had tweakablity in mind.. I think just about all functions are covered & in a obvious layout. I would like to hear what you do with them at some point.

Hey Vieris, just wanted to pipe in again and compliment you on your work. I've had a chance to put them through a few of their paces and I'm impressed. Don't know what to think of the feedback one yet, I may or may not find a use for it, but your feed-forward is hot. I got it to pull out room sound from a vocal track that I had formerly thought was pretty dry -- and none of my other "high-end" software compressors could pull it off nearly as well, including most of the UAD lot. The new PSP Mixpressor came closest, but was smoother, yours was grabbier and somehow more surgical (in a good way).

Impressive work, daddio.

Cheers.

Glad it's working out for you. Thats one hell of an endorsement. Thanks.
Are you using the Filters or Drive to fine tune the tasks? I'm curious what people find are the strengths and weaknesses. I will also need some people to Beta some ideas i have floating in my head shortly.

Hmmm, hard as it is to critique something that I think sounds great, let's see what I can do.... :)

I'm finding the use of the filters and the detector drive rather unpredictable and not extremely useful at this point, and I don't yet understand the effect that overdriving the detection signal has on the envelope of the compressor, it seems as if a straightforward amplitude knob might be more useful (not sure of that), so that seems kind of odd to me at this point. Too, it's conceivable that my current lack of delight in the filters is due to the particular source material I've been experimenting with. I can't imagine that being able to filter out low end content is not going to be useful to me someday soon.

But I look upon those aspects as its funny quirks at this point. I like what the feed-forward does so much that I'm very hesitant to be in favor of any changes that might mess with the code, with the sound of the thing.

Happy to beta test as time allows. Keep up the great work.

Cheers!

if the saturation is dynamic (i.e. depends on the input-signal) then it introduces a program-dependency

Thanks for the manuals Vieris ... I'm going to need them. :D

Interesting. Hmmm. Well it seems to me that keying off specific parts of the incoming spectrum already makes it program dependent. Doesn't it? The addition of overdrive, though, only "smears" the transient over time in a different fashion. Less precisely tuned to the program material, one might say.

Still, I plead ignorance of this parameter, and it's good to hear about it, particularly if this is the dynamic at work under the hood in compressors which make of point of being "progam-dependent," or having program-dependent settings, like the 670.

Anyway, all cool. :D

Cheers.
