I'm pretty impressed with MemoryMoon... I've been using it for about a year now... I'm probably going to buy Messiah as well, but just haven't gotten around to it.

I'm using a Rev C with 2gb... and in the manner that I use it live, I haven't been able to throw any more at it than it handle so far.

looneytunes wrote:Hi again,

Just wanted to add a few things to what Bryan was saying:

1.) If you work with Bryan's method, you will need to be very careful to:
a.) make sure that you copy all of the registry keys from a PC installation over to Receptor
b.) make sure that you have copied any other required .dlls that Arturia installs into the system folder on Receptor.

I think there is an option when you install on a PC to see a log of everything that the installer did. Using this to match keys and .dlls will make life alot easier.

2.) No matter which method you use, you will need to mess with the registry to install the updates from Arturia. For whatever reasons, these will not execute from wine, so you don't have much choice. Fortunately, if you are successful with the original installations, you will probably only need to update the registry key for the new security key.

Also - I mentioned this in my original notes, but Thanks to Bryan for trailblazing this!

Hey Kev :)

Sorry i haven't popped in for a while to say hi...

Kevin is right on all these points... and his method is *much* more straight forward. I'd only recommend mine if other means have failed (and you have some pretty strong coffee on hand).

2. If you spent over a $1000 based exclusively on what you read on an 8x11 magazine ad for a product with this level of sophistication, but failed to check compatibility with what you intend to use it with, then you need to learn how to research things a little more carefully. Today's world of technology belongs to the resourceful.
I think a more honest approach for Muse would be to specifically list the incompatible/uninstallable plugins, rather than let the end-users beta test them.

Besides, we're not talking some obscure synths. NI's Komplete is the most popular and best-selling software synth package on the market.

Reminder: Komplete 4 was released in September 2006.
Today's world of technology belongs to the resourceful.
Exactly, which is why Muse should have released this update long ago. Technology moves fast; if they can't keep up, competitors step in and take over.

This may be the case with SMPro. Being a bigger company, they have the resources to keep their products updated faster.

Their rack unit has MANY more features such as:

faster CPU
more than 2GB RAM
24Bit / 192kHz DAC
8 Mic / line inputs (combo)
Ethernet port for host software and/or sequencer integration
8 XLR outputs

Actually the V-Rack doesn't have ANY features at the moment... not until Q4 this year. Not to say that they won't be formidable competition if they can deliver what they promise but it seems they are making the same promise using the word "any" that Muse did pre-release too.

Touche; but it is nevertheless May and still no sign of direct install.

It'd be nice to get another update from Muse :)

True that. And a BIG part of the reason I don't own a Receptor right now. I felt the money was best spent elsewhere for now and I do want to see what others can do with similar technology coming out (empty promises expected or not, that's unfortunately today's no-accountability marketing at work) as well as hoping for better multi-computer solutions.

Just a quick update:

If all goes well, Direct Install will be beta this coming week if not next. We encountered several difficulties, specifically during a K4 to K5 update using DI. Hence the delay in getting this out sooner. Thanks a lot for your patience and continued support.

Signed up for beta.... still nothing. I need direct install like there's no tomorrow. I use my Receptor mainly to run BAttery, and I'm stuck with Bat 2 'cause 3 won't run yet (only if you buy it with Komplete).... and I'm not good enough to deal with Putty and other programmer type stuff.

Right now it's sitting as a 'museum' piece.... can't use it in my daw (opened a ticked but nobody answered back) and for live I'm stuck with BAt 2... to make matters even sh!tt!&r I work in Bat 3 but I can't save the kits to Bat 2 format.

Hope they give their attention to this direct install stuff, because it's frustrating to see stuff like Autotune 5 come up for Receptor... I mean honestly.... how many people need to Autotune off the Receptor as opposed to people that need to use Synths, samplers etc... Especially stuff that's been out on the market for years and still not adapted to Receptor. :(

I understand your frustration with direct install and that is VERY valid, but I wouldn't write off the market out there that absolutely wants more effects and the like and not this major synth/sampler leaning that the Receptor currently seems to have. Obviously I'm in the market segment that wants effects (and synths/samplers too!)

The end of the week, given the Muse time scale, is sometime within the next few months.

Sorry, it's just the frustration talking... I can't use it in my DAW (but that's not such a biggie since that was not the main reason for the purchase)... and for live I'm stuck with using outdated/substandard plugs, while the good plugs that I bought sit on a shelf.

Hey supersor - following directions gleaned from this forum, I got Battery 3 working on Receptor a few weeks ago. Runs well - I'm very very happy with it. The install involved obtaining root access on Receptor and doing a bit of tweaking (including copying info into the Receptor registry). A hassle, yes, but definitely worth it. If you're interested, respond and I'll point you to the relevant how-tos.
