why are there only selected optigan / talentmaker chord sets?

There are 4 clips on youtube with him and a young lady playing his MkII (sorry, I'm at work and can't get to youtube to get the links). He won it in an eBay auction. I think it cost him around $12,000. I really wanted to bid on it (I would have gone higher), but I already had a new Tron on order. It's in pristine condition and even has the three arse bench. Martin at Streetly says it's the best looking MkII he's seen.

Hi,

They used SFX Console on White Album.It would be nice to know the specific signal chain used.Undoubtedly Ken Scott knows how Mellotron parts on Magical Mystery Tour and on White Album were recorded.They did not go straight into the board on Magical Mystery Tour,but miked amps(rented MkII was used).The specific signal chain would be nice to know in this case as well.I'm pretty sure that "audio nerds" around the globe would enjoy this kind of information.
This kind of interest shows in sales of that lovely book.It is back in print now.

To taijiguy:
Have I met Frank,or do I know him in person?I'm afraid no is the answer.It would actually be nice to visit his studio someday,but that's highly unlikely.Frank has a myspace page.

Those modified machines surely have thicker sound.Mike Pinder used
them on tours.
I think that darker sound goes well with the EMT-140s,which are prone to ringing (especially if strong transients are being introduced-->various Brass sounds for example).

The young lady mentioned by taijiguy is Tara Busch.(I can't post links here,but she has her own page on Youtube.)

CWoodOne,I only know what you already must know(over 2GB disk space for SampleTron).

Doing the entire Optigan and Talentmaker sets wasn't the goal of this. If I did that I'd want it to also act like one ideally... which means loops drop in and out but stay in sync etc. One of these days I'd like to do that though but that'd be something else most likely. For SampleTron we just wanted to touch on the Optigan and Talentmaker stuff to represent it in the tron family. But, anyway, there's plenty of material there all around to justify the price. It has even more than Squids Tron Collection and that was one of our best sellers in the vintage category.

Yeah, he came by the studio yesterday and was telling me all about it. Sounds cool! The Mk2 is very different and I'd like to do a proper thorough sampling of one... or even just buy it from someone else if someone else does it. I mainly do these things for myself and then turn it into a product. So there's also a major effort in certain areas that other companies are not likely to go and visa verse I'm sure.
