I've been having Zebra problems lately. (great opening line for a session with a psychiatrist!) I will find a patch which sounds wonderful, and begin to integrate in into a song. But if I try to export audio, or really do any number of functions (usually in FLStudio) the wonderful sounding patch will suddenly become very muted and muffled -- not the same sound at all.
Looking into my directories, I suspect I have a botched multiple installation. I see the original installation in C:\Program Files\u-he. This installation contains the support/com.u-he.Zebra2.user.txt file. It's also apparently where FLStudio is looking for presets.
In addition to this, in a VST Plugin directory (C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 6\Plugins\VST\u-he) I see more messy stuff. I see what what was probably the initial location for the Zebra2, Zebralette, and ZRev .dll files, but also what was probably a botched "compact install" u-he directory (C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 6\Plugins\VST\u-he\u-he!) also containing the .dll files, as well as the Zebra2.data directory.
I suspect I need to backup my support/com.u-he.Zebra2.user.txt file and my add-on presets, delete all of these old installs, reinstall in one place, and then move my serial number and presets to that area. Is that correct?
All helpfulness appreciated!

Please check com.u-he.Zebra2.midimap.txt in Wordpad. Maybe an important parameter is accidentally midilearned.
If you have a Zebra2.data directory next to the .dlls, this is the place. This directory has priority over C:\Program Files\u-he\ due to Receptor/Linux compatibility issues.
I'll say more tomorrow if needed, but now I gotta look after my pizza in the oven.

Hey, with respect to the muted voices, you got it in one! There was indeed a filter cut-off entry in the midimap.txt. Now I can export normally.
Interestingly, though, it was in the original installation area, which is the one FLStudio tends to see, and not in the Zebra2.data directory. The midimap.txt in that area was empty.
Do you think I should try and clean up this install, or let sleeping dogs lie if it's working?
thanks!

Glad it works now!
In future I will make the receptorized/compact/All_In_Vstplugins installer a separate download. It's a bit too confusing...

Rename Zebra2.data to Zebra.tmp.data or something and see how it goes. If it's still okay, trash Zebra2.data.5bongo5 wrote:Do you think I should try and clean up this install, or let sleeping dogs lie if it's working?
