this forum lacks a decent search engine?

I do really think so...
or am I too stupid?
try search key 'allintitle:EWI'
a) select 'Forum Only'
b) with option 'in any part'
???
its surely nice to distribute some web traffic to Google..
but KVR really could need an own, more advanced, more convenient search engine IMHO (eg. search for authors)...

While I wouldn't go so far in my criticism, I have noticed certain peculiar problems when using the KVR search engine. Has anyone else ever found that when you search "KVR Members Only" you can't find the member you are looking for even if you spell their user name perfectly? A little frustrating.

its definitely broken. no matter what you search for here, you always get back some pranny wittering on about the inherent superiority of the Virus.

half of the time, when I click on the second page of the results (even if it's one of a hundred pages), I get "No topics or posts met your search criteria." WTF! Plus it only returns results from the beginning of '06 or '07.

You are using the "vintage" search engine emulation, so realistic even the limitations of search engines of yore are painstakingly replicated, as are the results! The Chase wrote:half of the time, when I click on the second page of the results (even if it's one of a hundred pages), I get "No topics or posts met your search criteria." AFAIR, this has never been working at all.Per Lichtman wrote:While I wouldn't go so far in my criticism, I have noticed certain peculiar problems when using the KVR search engine. The search system should indeed be updated. In fact, I'm getting better results when googling and adding "KVR" to my search all the time.

One more thing: If you are searching for one post in a hundred page thread, there's no way to go strait to that page. You have to use your browsers search on every page.

Why doesn't it use the stock phpBB search? The Google thing is so clunky, I've searched for recent threads using keywords and had to wade thru pages of old and irrelevant shite. It can't be a lot of help to newbies looking for the frequently asked stuff.
