Receptor v Sonar 7 PE for studio use

I am strictly a studio musician, and use Cakewalk's Sonar PE 7 to create multi timbral patches using various plug ins, and multi instrument performances. I understand that the Muse Receptor can do all this, and also recreate the studio environment on stage.
However, as I am unlikely to be playing live on a regular basis, is it worth buying a Receptor ? What can it do, in a studio set up, that I cannot achieve with Sonar ?
I also own a Line 6 POD XT amp / effects modelling device for use with my guitar. Does the Receptor provide the same functions as the POD, or would it be a useful unit to provide additional effects / sounds ?
I would be interested in hearing from anyone that has a Receptor as well as Sonar, and what benefits they feel that it brings.
Hope to hear from you.

I love my Receptor but it probably not worth it for your application. If you are satisfied with what Sonar can do then the Receptor probably won't seem like much of a change other than having to learn a whole new piece of equipment. I use Sonar PE as well. Receptor is really a live performance tool at this point. If you are particular about realtime performance of a synth and find playing vsti through a host (like Sonar) to be disappointing or unsatisfying then Receptor may have something to offer as it has better realtime response. For me that matters. But computers can have passable response for the average tracking purposes. I don't use mine as an effects box so I can't comment about this specifically. It depends on your preferences and how particular you are about playing an instrument. I don't believe a Receptor can do anything feature-wise that a computer can't do but a computer can do things a Receptor can't do. What you are buying with a Receptor is an instrument that has tight dependable response much like a hardware instrument that you can easily take with you and uses standard vst and vsti. The caveat is that you can't use just any vst or vsti at this point and if what you want to use is not supported then you are out of luck unless you can find a substitute. Hopefully version 2 of the OS will solve much of this.

for studio tools, i would run instruments on the computer's cpu and perhaps expand that with UAD cards or maybe focusrite liquidmix for mixing purposes. Also better integration in your host than with receptor.

Following on from my earlier post and Jon's comments, I would also add that I use Synthogy's "Ivory" quite a lot, mainly in standalone mode. Most of the time it works fine, but I occasionally get pops and clicks if I have been using the sustain pedal a fair bit, and also if I use the Bosendorfer piano. Presumably, if I used Ivory with Receptor, I would get a "perfect" piano performance ?
I tend to use Ivory more than the rest of my VST's put together, and hence I would be interested in buying Receptor in order to maximise the performance that I can get from it. Does anyone use Ivory with Receptor, and are the results significantly better than using it as a standalone program on a PC ?
Thanks in advance for your comments.
