Hello!
I just downloaded Mulab and first want to say it's amazing  ! Thanks for giving musicians the opportunity to work with a well structured and easy-to-use DAW like this for free.
Producing beats works really good and is great fun due to the possibility to work by nothing but intuition.
However, my problem is something else:
If I import an instrumental and then record my vocals, the vocals have a latency or run out of sync :help: - don't really know what it is, but one of the two options.
This is kind of weird because that never happened with other DAW's and wouldn't really be a problem if I wasn't finishing a free download mixtape right now with two friends who are waiting for me to record and mix all the tracks as soon as possible  .
I hope you can help me to solve my problem :) .
Thanks
Zac

P.S: Sorry for grammar and spelling errors - I'm no native english speaker.

Is that on OSX or Windows?

Damn, indeed a little bug :(

Will be fixed in the next version.

To go more in detail:

In the next version there is a preference "PreferredAudioRecordingLatencyCompensation" in Settings/AudioSetup.txt, which can be any of these values:

"Input" = Input latency
"Output" = Output latency
"Input+Output" = Input+Output latency (which is the default)

Or it can be any number from 0 to 65536, in which case this defines the number of frames an audio recording should be shifted to be in sync with the music.

By default MU.LAB will use the "Input+Output" latency.

Because when your HEAR the music, then this music has already a latency of output latency. When you sing or play an instrument on hearing that music, then that sound goes into the ASIO device and is delayed by input latency before it arrives in MU.LAB.

But not all drivers report correct latency values, or they may be other reasons why the theoretic values are not accurate.

And so that's why the next MU.LAB offers this 'PreferredAudioRecordingLatencyCompensation' preference in case you want to finetune it for every possible recording setup.

But normally you don't have to take care about this, the software will ;)

Great!
Thank you for your detailed answer!
When do you think is the next version available?
Because when this Bug is fixed, I want to buy the full version.
I don't know if updates are for free, but if not it woudn't make sense for me to buy it now

Zac_MVM: In another thread or two Jo has mentioned that it seems likely that the beta for the next version will be out late May (I would guess maybe early June at this point, though) and the finished version to be out by late June (again, though, I may myself guess just a little bit later, but not much). At any rate, not much longer at all.

From what I recall (Jo will have to verify), .x releases are free, whereas full version number updates do cost, but at a reduced price, and at the price of MU.LAB, reduced must be pretty darn cheap. :)

EDIT: I do have to wonder though...as signifigant an update as this seems to be... will this be 1.2? Or 2.0?

Normally, MU.LAB 2 will be released at the end of june.
Because when this Bug...
Ah, i see your point ;)

Yes, you're right, you have won a free MU.LAB Unlimited User License because you spotted a new, repeatable bug.

Please send me an email with your full name and country and so you'll get it soon.

Ok, no need to buy anymore, unless you want to sponsor MU.LAB.

Currently if you buy a MU.LAB Unlimited User License, you get 1 year of free updates.

But untill now, all Unlimited users got all updates for free!

Decission has been taken that also the next MU.LAB 2 will be free for all Unlimited users.

It will be 2.0.

The update indeed is too significant to go for a 1.2 or 1.5.
