The trance style track sounds pretty convincing.

I wouldn't call these 3 tracks Electronica,

To me its more or less trance tracks but ....

Maybe its only a question of vocabulary ....

In France Electronica applies to groovy tracks. Maybe its different in other countries :?: :?:

There seems to be some disagreement as to what the term means. Some think it's synonymous with "electronic music" while in others' opinion it refers to some group of genres.
“Somebody said to me, ‘But the Beatles were antimaterialistic.’ That’s a huge myth. John and I literally used to sit down and say, ‘Now, let’s write a swimming pool.’ ”

Electronica is Boards of Canada, Telefon tel aviv and Arovane - not Trance or House -at least in Denmark :)

Where I'm from, the US, all of the bands you mentioned, plus the genre Trance, is considered electronica. In other words, the genres IDM, Techno, Trance, DubStep, House, Glitch, etc. are all under the heading "electronica". Many of us tend to refer mainly to the genre labels when referring to a more specific sound than the broad generalization that the term "electronica" has come to stand for.

The genre House came before the broad categorization term Electronica. House was once considered, and still is by many, to be Techno. Then the Europeans took both terms and made them their own. But that's the history of classification systems for you. Eventually there are so many labels used that describe similar things that a single term is invented to refer to it all. This is especially true given the ease that ideas cross-pollinate with different cultures these days.

"Dance" is another term used for broad categorization, which makes it a little humorous when one considers that Intelligent Dance Music aka IDM, a genre, refers to many artists and music that are anything but dance oriented. IDM used to include LTJ Bukem's style of Jungle, does it still? I don't know -- but it seems to be more associated with acts like Plaid and Oval. And anyone who knows Oval knows that their music is most certainly not dance music. Though, Plaid's music usually is danceable, but not always.

Anyway, carry on. :)

"The Concept of Eternity" is great! Great sounds and great production. Good retro trance (dunno too much about the genre drawer business  ).

Try spending 11 years of your life selling records and you will learn just fine.

I always thought that Madonna coined the term "Electronica" during her "Ray of Light" phase... Or at least the people responsible for marketing her album. :hihi: (<- Translates to "don't take anything I say seriously")

I survived those 11 years with great pleasure.

On the other hand, don't be so sure that you won't have a spell or two of cognitive dissonance sometime in the next 11 years of your own life.
