And another thing i want to add....I dont think the guitar amps and the multi fx etc are worthless...In fact i understand it to be a godsend for those who say, are gonna use the native linux platform and need all the built in stuff they can get...its just _at this point_ when stability is still an issue. I think things would go much easier if we could get it as stable as possible without adding anything, and THEN start adding all these cool toys so that gets all the attention from the testers and users.


I like how XT2 is shaping to be a self-reliant, efficient musi workstation but at this point dont you think its more important to get the system ready? its like microsoft focusing on windows media player and having it added before windows the OS even works porperly!

I'd guess that this new stuff is being done by one coder (henning?) while the big bug fixes and underlying stuff has to be tackled by Jorgen. Maybe there's a big engine rewrite going on that will address all these things in one go? - might explain why there's not much apparent effort to sort out basic flaws right now. How's that for wishful thinking and wild speculation?

I do wish these guys would communicate a bit more though. It's so weird! I think people would respond well to being consulted (like they were before), or at least being let in on the current thinking.

It's a smart move, there's probably an eye on future linux based portable devices. It's going to be a huge market. But of course the thing has to work properly to start with!

I agree totally !! ... why continuing implemetation of components that are already available from other publishers (even free) while there are still essential features missing and elemental Bugs to fix ?

XT2 was supposed to be the big rewrite that would fix everything from scratch... I love the wishful thinking on this board, that someday an update will come along that will fix everything. More likely jorgen is working on the BeOS version, an additive synthesizer, or an all-in-one mastering FX bundle.

Or perhaps they have just abandoned the XT2 spaghetti code and are working on the XT3 beta, just what we need...

Yeah that's true. To be honest I'm not that bothered, anymore, after two years... I bought XT1 and it is still the same as it was, just wish I could automate wet/dry levels on sends more easily... It is odd though to see someone go from producing something so unique and visionary to what is so far a fairly regular if promising sequencer, but there you go. The sloppiness of the coding is quite baffling. I do wonder sometimes about those rumours a while back of some source code going missing... But if there was a little more direct communication from the company I wouldn't have so much reason to ponder what might be going on. As for wishful thinking, well I think if you appreciate how good 1.41 is then you know what Jorgen is capable of so there's always hope for this thing.

although i dont care for included fx ......i'm happy to see development back on track with friday updates like in the golden period.
and quick fixes to latest features is very nice.


u just wanna see the negative when clearly in the past few weeks things are moving fast again.....


if jorgen keeps this pace for the next few months we'll son have the best sequencer on the market.

It probably is... That's how it was when I worked at XT earlier on. Henning were making some nice fancy features, while Jorgen took care of the bigger/complex stuff. I'm quite confident that the BRs and bigger issues are being handled. Also... When XT combined forces with Behringer, Jorgen said in a interview with a norwegian online it-news page that they would now be able to hire more people...
Aaaand, I checked Facebook and found TWO new people claiming to work for XT Software since April. One is CEO, and another guy is developer.

Alright, so based on this I don't really think you guys should worry so much because some new fancy features is coming while some bigger functions that you guys want isn't implemented yet. There are three people developing XT (or more?) and I'm sure that at least one of them are working on BRs and enhancing the core functions of XT (I'm also sure that all of the guys is following these forums quite closely). But of course, this obviously takes some time, but I don't think you guys should worry that much.
