I guess the embedded FX thing is born of necessity 'cos of those crazy (in a good way
) Linux types. I too would like to see the basics addressed first but if / when it all comes together, a lightweight portable self contained app. is no bad thing.

as long as the new production features are on a high level I am happy to see these features integrated. There are so many tools available, yes and therefore I personally think about it as an advantage that is is not necessary to care about. If anybody has special needs or is not satisfied he can use his own tools. Although I miss the advanced midi features of eXT 1, I think for a multifaceted community that is not only producers of a certain kind it might be the right strategy to provide an all in one solution that offer fxes, compressors, amp simulation etc.
