What hosts is it stable in?

I'm planning to buy Sylenth but seeing so many complaints about its bugs, etc. I'm having second thoughts. Is it more stable in some hosts than in others? I have Project5, Sonar 5, and Cubase LE. I really love the sound but I don't want to have any health problems caused by trying to use it and losing my work.

Really the best way to be sure is to download the demo version from their website and just try it out.

Multiple Sylenth1's run fine on my AMD dual core with XP Pro and Cubase SX3.

Mine was fine on Cubase SX3 also , never experienced the stuttering that so many people reported .
A word or phrase I copied from somewhere that helps to define me and also make me look cool .

Never had any problems with Cubase SX3 and EnergyXT2.

Sylenth1 runs flawlessly (multiple instances even) on C4 for me. (quad core setup).

As I wrote in another thread:
There is a tendency to post complaints about a product but you rarely read from all the users who never had problems.

Do a google-search for any new product. Like Mac OS X: google "OS X 10.5 problems" and you will find a lot although most people had no problems.

The happy users are invisible and a few unhappy ones who are very vocal about their problems can distort the perception.

I have also asked on a german forum in a Sylenth discussion:
So far only one user replied: Cubase and no problems.

if Sonar has problems with it, maybe it's a Sonar-problem:

Some interesting statements from Sound & Recording magazine about Sonar 6/7 problems with VST plug-ins and usable number of plug-ins:

Sound & Recording 01/2008
Review Sonar 7 Producer Edition:
"unfortunately I had to experience certain instabilities that occured in context of some plug-ins. ... program crashes are something Sonar users are not used to"

Sound & Recording 03/2007
Review Sonar 6:
"project with 100 tracks and 60-80% CPU usage ...despite optimizing audio preferences there were sporadic drop-outs and therefore stops of playback, which did not occur in the identically configured Cubase project.
Also a few VST-Plug-Ins (UAD for example) caused problems. The latency compensation did not work."

I see it this way:
VST is a Steinberg technology so you can assume that Steinberg's implementation is correct.
If a VSTi works on Cubase then -for me- it is compatible.
If another DAW has a problem then I would first assume that the DAW is responsible.

When Logic was available for PC Emagic had constant problems implementing the VST-standard in Logic.

It's not necessarily the plug-in's fault.

Despite repeating myself:
From a friend who bought NI Komplete I heard that Cubase 4 initially caused problems with some Native Instruments plug-ins.
Maybe due to the new VST version.

I use Sylenth1 in Sonar 7 and have never had a problem in the six months I have had it. It works flawlessly for me. I have made six or seven instances in Sonar without a problem with either Sonar or Sylenth1. Not sure what the bugs are but I don't have any in mine.

That's interesting. This feeds my suspicion the problems some users report may occur if using maybe 80% and more of CPU power.
That would of course not be a problem of any particular plug-in.

What percentage of CPU use do your projects typically have (or what's a usual maximum)?

I usually never go over 20-30% in CPU power. In Sonar you can freeze synths or do a quick bounce to track to keep the CPU from being overtaxed. Since I came from Reason originally I found "freezing" to be a pain as it seemed an extra step but now it I find it essential in good CPU management. Freezing is a temporary method of freeing up the CPU to add more soft synths or instances thereof. I usually freeze a track immediately after recording it until I need to change or add something to the track. I am not sure about other DAWs and how they handle this issue.

I am running a dual core 2.7Ghz Dell Inspiron with 4Gig of RAM.

I should add that the 20-30% figure is for each CPU so if you were running a single CPU computer this would equate to 40-60% of the CPU power.

The point is that your computer has 70-80% unused CPU power - and you are NOT having problems with Sylenth + Sonar.

Going to the limit of the CPU is probably the reason for some users' dropouts and not Sylenth.
Apparently Cubase has less problems going 80% CPU use.
This would be what the 2 most recent reviews of Sonar in Sound & Recording magazine suggest.

Working fine on Live 6 and Live 7, no issues. Worked great on e6600 and q6600 chips.

One of my songs, "Unbelievable (Nebulae Remix)" by Techno Squirrels, is on Lennard's site. I did it on the e6600, running on Live 6, using about 8 instances of Sylenth, and just drum samples and the vocals. CPU was around 20%...would be about 10-13% on the q6600.

Amazing synth...with the issues would get sorted out.
