there is still a little confusion in the world
about being C4 or C3 the middle C of keyboard, <grin>
Ford , if your middle C is C4, C5 is not so high as you correctly said.
maybe let's use MIDI number to avoid confusion,
middle C should be 60,

Ohh, ok, sorry about that. Actually most VST hosts shows wrongly the C octaves. It should start with -C2 -C1 C0 and so on, so C5 would be 3 octaves higher than what you see now.
That's why I tought it was insane.

That´s it. Compared to the most other manufacturers Roland is using a different middle C description since many years.liqih wrote:

I´ve checked all upper range samples again and I can say that there is nothing special with them. Even the CX3 samples are completely flawless.

Could it be something about the way EVE handles samples at faster/higher vibrato or still pesky loop-points? Is antialiasing not functioning properly in this zone? If the samples are clean, it has to be something EVE is doing...no?

NEW BETA UPDATE 14
Here is the BETA 14 with a totally new code. This will also reflect on the other synths. But first we need to be sure that is totally stable and running without flaws.
Please, do a test with the old Beta-12 first, like we did here. Play 16 notes wich the 3 OSCs playing. No Effects and LFOs. Test with and without the Filter, and with and without ATTACK/RELEASE. Make notes of the CPU usage.
Update to BETA-14 and do the same test. Here we got from 50% to 60% less CPU usage, and with the LP filter 80% less CPU usage.
Users with (eeek) Celeron processor won't notice much optimizations, since we'm using a lot of the CACHE memory.
Tomorrow I will also mess with the FXs area to save some CPU usage there too.
Best Regards, WilliamK

holy smoke William... !!! the beta versions are flying out faster than we can test them... LOL!
I just was running beta 12 and here comes 14...
first thoughts on 12.... many kewl improvemets and great sounds in SX... but noticed the learn lo-hi keyboard zones was not working as it had been... EVE don't seen to learn them now.... maybe it's fixed in 14... off to get that ver. now.
looking and sounding darn good so far!

hmmm ok... well did not run your test exactly but yes, cpu is down a bit on the SX project for testing...
I have a couple thoughts:
One is on the Lo-Hi split learn functions....
here is what happens and I have it figured out now but it was confusing at first.
I have EVE in SX, on three diff midi tracks... so that each midi part can play one of EVE's channels. Now to set the keyboard zones, what I have to do is first select the midi track for A, have it armed to record... then I can use the learn function. Then I must turn off REC on that track, turn on REC for the next track [ = EVE Channel B ] and set Lo-Hi for that and then do it again for EVE's C channel.
A little confusing and I think you might need to explain this in a pdf manual eventually...
Now, I find a few things that I would like to see added and think they make good sense.
One is on the settings for Transposing each channel ... using the knob is cumbersome for me to say the least... along with the knob I would love to be able to select the number in the window below the knobs and type in the + or - amount. i.e., -7.00 or even say, -5.25... you see? Plus amounts would not need to have a - typed first I assume.
The other thing that seems to make sense is to be able to assign the audio output for each channel to one of three audio out channels. As it is now, they of course ONLY go to one audio output. This seems to me very limiting... sometimes it is fine to have all EVE's audio outs on one audio out in the SX mixer, BUT ... it would be a whole new "ball game" to be able to send each of EVE's channels to a diff audio out!!!! This would allow for diff vst or dx fx on each audio out, eh?
And lastly a question: on the left top of the GUI, at the top of each loaded sample is a blank black rectangle, ..right? What is that for? Is something intended to show up there eventually?
I go to sleep now maybe.... back after

Max, thanxs for the tests so far.

Also, you can use the Internal mini-keyboard, is easier too.

A BIT? Please, do the test as I said, you will see that it droped more than a bit.hmmm ok... well did not run your test exactly but yes, cpu is down a bit on the SX project for testing...
I will test it on SX, but this looks like to be a Host thing. Since on Orion is pretty easy to do.here is what happens and I have it figured out now but it was confusing at first.
Sorry, but this we can't add, due to limitations on our Library. But I don't get why you would need that, since you just tweak the transpose to the proper level? Maybe it should display only the TRANSPOSE on the display and not the fine, this I totally agree, let me ask Luigi about it.One is on the settings for Transposing each channel ... using the knob is cumbersome for me to say the least... along with the knob I would love to be able to select the number in the window below the knobs and type in the + or - amount. i.e., -7.00 or even say, -5.25... you see? Yes, but that would overide the internal mixer, and that's not an option for us. The idea is to use EVE mixer instead of the Host mixer. I will research on that. Maybe I can come up with 4 channels, a master one and a copy of the DRY signal of the other 3 channels. And an option to turn ON and OFF those extra channels to save CPU usage, since it WILL use much more CPU to add those extra channels. The other thing that seems to make sense is to be able to assign the audio output for each channel to one of three audio out channels. As it is now, they of course ONLY go to one audio output. Hehe, be patient my friend...And lastly a question: on the left top of the GUI, at the top of each loaded sample is a blank black rectangle, ..right? What is that for? Is something intended to show up there eventually?

ah thanks even for listening William! I know sometimes my ideas can sound odd but I just at least want to put them out for any consideration.
ok then on the transpose numbers... so be it... I guess I'd just leave it with the decimal point... at least it's some referance of what moves one is making... I realize it's up to the 'ear of the player' in the final analysis, ... one thought though... maybe technically, a window below Transpose for the full half steps and another below Fine expressed in 'cent' of pitch? [ LOL I can hear ya already, and I'm going to go hide in my corner!
]
OK on the CPU reduction! Yes!!!! I later got to see it in Chainer and it's way down... darn NICE work guys!!!! just fantastic!
OK... hmmm on that diff options for audio outputs... I have to keep mentioning it as a wish...
I hope I'm being clear about what I mean.... I understand the EVE mixer for sure... but let me explain my thought better:
Sorry to mention this in the same breath, but just for example, the Edirol vsti's of Hypercanvass and Super Quartet have just made this improvement to a degree. They used to have all there many midi channels only outputting to a single Audio out. Now this was really silly for those vsti's... It meant if you had a drums midi track and say a piano midi track both going to one audio out, and you wanted to put an FX insert on only the Drums, you could not do it... unless you loaded a whole other instance of the vsti.
This is what I'm trying to say about EVE also... sometimes it's clearly just fine to have all 3 EVE channels going to one audio out and use the EVE mixer... surely. But then, lets imagine you wanted whatever is on EVE's channel 3, and ONLY the channel 3 sound, to have a vst FX on it.... while keeping the other 2 EVE channels not FX'd. Right now, the only way would be to load a second instance of EVE, right?
....sorry for the long explaination, but just want to be clear...
I must compliment you guys on the new sounds... just staggering really.... by the time a few pre's are included, EVE is gonna be another very special creation. It seems to me that Dashsignature is really growing in huge steps lately, both in concept and implemetaion! VERY Impressive....
and yes.... I have the patience of 100 Saints... LOL

Thanxs Max, about the Output, we WILL include several options for output.
Master (the mixer out)
separated mono channels for each OSC
And we also plan to add 2 extra FX send for the Modulator and Echo, not sure yet about this one.
With an option to turn on/off each channel to save CPU usage when not being used.
Sorry we haven't updated Beta-15 yet, but we will do soon.
Best Regards, WilliamK

beta 14...
I had to do this test on my PIII as my PIV is waiting till payday for a new graphics card(the fan's dying)...beta 12 showed 25-29 and 26-32...beta 14 showed 14-18 and 16-22 ....
relatively big difference...

great William many thanks for even considering my odd ideas.... I must add, that I do see more and more vsti's now that include the options for diff audio outputs when it makes sense for type of vsti. So hopefully all the work you guys will have to do will become a good useful code resourse for you in your future efforts.... [always looking on the brighter side

ok... patiently waiting for beta 15 while I continue with my installs and tweaks... damn, there MUST be an easier way
