UVI Workstation crashing MuLab

I'm testing the new UVI Workstation beta with MuLab but this instrument is crashing MuLab upon instantiation. The UVI people are saying it's because this UVI workstation has 34 outs and MuLab only supports 32 and I should report it to you.

I plugged the UVI Workstation in MU.LAB, and also got an immediate crash.
Researched this a bit more using the debugger and it's not because of the 34 outs. (MU.LAB is protected to that situation anyway).
I've emailed Olivier Tristan about the technical details.
Hope we can sort this out soon.

Emailed with Olivier.
The immediate crashing i encountered was caused by the missing PACE protection.
But there is a bug in MU.LAB anyway when plugging in VSTs that use more than 32 ins or outs.
The next MU.LAB 2.0 will support up to 256 inputs and outputs for VSTs

So I guess because PACE isn't installed with MuLab(unlike Pro Tools, say...where it is) that's problem #1. But there IS a bug with the 32/34 outs of UVI...so that's 2. Good to hear the 2.0 version will correct one of these.
So do I have to install this PACE driver to make UVI work with MuLab?

The PACE 'problem' is on UVI's side.Gothboy wrote:So I guess because PACE isn't installed with MuLab(unlike Pro Tools, say...where it is) that's problem #1. But there IS a bug with the 32/34 outs of UVI...so that's 2. Good to hear the 2.0 version will correct one of these.

I think it's not a real problem if you have an official UVI because then you will have your iLok installed anyway, otherwise UVI won't work.
But it would be more user friendly if UVI could say "Hey, can't find the iLok" instead of crashing. Not sure if that's technically possible, i don't have technical experience with iLoks.

There are several points:mutools wrote:The PACE 'problem' is on UVI's side.Gothboy wrote:So I guess because PACE isn't installed with MuLab(unlike Pro Tools, say...where it is) that's problem #1. UVIWorkstation needs pace drivers to run but shouldn't crash withouth them. Pace is installed when you install UVI Workstation, so you shouldn't worry about that.
UVIWorkstation doesn't need an iLok key to run. However you need one if you purchased commercial soundbanks. Again if you don't have your iLok key it shouldn't crash, it just won't mount the commercial soundbanks.
The immediate crash happens if you try to attach a debugger to the application.
hope that clarifies the situation.

Right, forgot about that reason, my apologies!mdsp wrote:The immediate crash happens if you try to attach a debugger to the application.mutools wrote:But it would be more user friendly if UVI could say "Hey, can't find the iLok" instead of crashing.
