Will this plug allow me to use charlie retro organ on Intel Mac? I still use it, but on my PPC Mac as I haven't upgraded to plugsound pro nor wanted to pay any upgrade fee.

Can I import the .dat?

Thanks :)
UVI Workstation is fully compatible with all the UVI Soundcards, including the retro organ one, but it will not read .dat. We will have soon some cheap upgrade plans for existing customers (when the public beta cycle will be over). Check www.ultimatesoundbank.com, or contact info@ultimatesoundbank.com for more info.

Thanks!
You can import any kind of sound files like rex, appleloops, aiff, wav... There is a free 415 MB soundset to download at UVI Soundsource.com. You can buy physical products at www.ultimatesoundbank.com, and you will be able to download and buy sounds at www.uvisoundsource.com when it will be officially open (in a few weeks).

How can you save any single part as a new sound instead of saving the whole multi? If ths is not currently an option, will it ever be added?

I have Kore 2 and I like the way NI gives you the option to save parts/patches as new Kore sounds as well as save the whole performance if you so choose. This is possible to do in Kontakt 3 also.

Thanks,

This will be done very soon !

Bass108 wrote:an hour of playing around with some crashes. here are some concerns with Logic 8 in tiger - will mess with leopard when more stable

- can't drag rex file onto arrange page (says it is 32 bit file) aiff and wave are fine
Strange, we'll have a look.
- aiffs don't seem to allow me to select slice, wavs are fine though
- on the note of slice, its weird that for slice when it is not mapped, it will play from where the loop stopped last - that can be cool depending on what you are doing
audio files can only be switched to slice mode if they already have loop markers.

there are multiple synchronisation modes for the loops (Position, Tempo, None) as well as multiple triggering modes (Immediate, Beat, Bar). That should be enough to cover most uses
- can't get the browser to recognize .caf or apple loops - it won't work in the apple loop browser in logic and won't even work in the finder
Do you mean the UVIWS browser can't load them, or doesn't see them?
Why do you say it doesn't work either in the apple loop browser and the finder?
- can't drag audio from arrange onto uvi tracks to load - can do so from the integrated browser in logic though
Can you drag and drop from UVIWS to your Desktop?
Can you drag from the finder to Logic?

we're doing standard file DnD so any app that supports DnD from the finder should accept DnD from UVIWS.
- keyswitching crashes logic when I turn on - try to change the value (which doesn't change - double clicking makes C3 red! whatever that means) - and then click on the keyboard interface (i sent a log of this to your email at beta support)
We'll have a look
- on the note of keyswitching, i noticed that when I map a loop it will have a blue line above the keyboard so i know what keys are available - thats great - well can't you implement this for the ranges when I do stacks and layers so I know what patches are where?
- if you did that with like multiple lines in addition with the keyswitching blue keys that you guys did, it would be really helpful
-and when I have a bunch of patches on the same midi channel - i wish the keyboard interface would reflect and play all the patches assigned to the channel
Good suggestion, we'll see what we can do
- loading a multi crashes logic (it didn't print out a log) - save is fine though
Using the multi load/save buttons or using aupreset?
the crash with aupreset should be fixed.
- another weird glitch, atleast in logic, is if i double click the image in the info part, the window with the image file comes up and logic and the plug-in are frozen (can't click anything) - when i close the image window everything resumes to normal, but the first time I did this the plugin was in front of the image and I couldn't do anything except for shutdown the program!
That's annoying, seems like Logic doesn't like additional windows, we'll have a look.
- and last, strangely it seems that uvi is crashing my capslock keyboard in logic, it might be the cpu spikes on this old g4 laptop i am testing it on but i have never had this issue before, just all of sudden when I am messing with uvi my capslock keys to play midi are rendered useless and i can't close the capslock window, but everything else in the program and plugin are fine - i don't know
does it also happen with the UVIWS UI closed?

frankbou wrote:Olivier, here is a few things with 1.0.1:
1- Still had a few crashes bringing down Cubase 4.1(WinXP) while reloading patches, however I have no steps, just happened randomely.
do you mean reloading a song, or a multi?
2- FX are still using CPU when there is no input, including Aux
This is something that needs to be done carefully with FXs having a tail, so for now we're staying on the safe-side. We might
3- CPU seems quite high if I compare polyphony with Kontakt 3 on lead or pad patches even if no FX is used. Is it possible that it is quite long before CPU usage is release after the sound drop?
if you have insert FXs we're waiting for the tail of each fx to end (if it ends) to bypass the fx so it can take some time.
4- Enabling the UI of the plugin is quite long in Cubase. It takes about 5-10 second for the UI to open on an existing instance of the plugin and while it's happening it freezes up Cubase. Again I will compare with Kontakt, but you can close or open the GUI without any noticable delay.
do you allow access to internet when working in cubase?
Merci.

Hi,

Just wanted to say that I have tried it on my Pentium D Vista computer in FL Studio v4 & it worked like a charm. No bugs where found during the testing I did last night & the installation was painless. I think it is a very good instruments to mangle samples with & the possibility to create multi is very cool. Th FX board is quite nice too.

Very good work!

thanks

Hi guys,

having problems to download here, again. IE now redirects me to google.fr :-o (no joke!) when clicking the windows installer link and FF shows me the hourglass.
Upgrade the server maybe?

To avoid overload, the server is setup to redirect to google when more than 11 downloads of the same file from the same IP adress happens within a laps of 2 hours.

Huh?

Do you tell me that your script thinks that I have tried to download this installer more than 11 times in two hours? I do some crazy things but I didn't do that. I only wanted to download it once and that one time completely. One download stopped in the middle which I canceled and tried again and since I get sent to google.fr.  8)

Are you using a download manager? if this is the case it could explain what's happening. Otherwise I have no idea, I'm not the one in charge of the server.

I didn't try it with a download manager.
I'll try Soulseek now to get it from Olaf!

Sorry if I am repeating this bug, this thread is getting a litle bit on the long side to check it all out.

Was trying Uvi in eXT2 but could not do anything as cpu went to 100% straigt after I loaded the plug, and I had to terminate the host.
Simple and repetive are my middle names

no problem, try it out!

i use SLSK to spread my own music, but i think it is also usefull to spread good free software!
