Clicks and Pops cropping up on Ivory...

I have recently upgraded my Receptor to a version C and have been happy however I am noticing that I am getting some clicks and pops from Ivory when I'm using the Italian Grand that I don't recall before. I have experimented with upping the buffer within Receptor from 128 to 256 but that doesn't seem to heal it. I don't notice those issues when I'm using say the Yamaha. I know the Italian is more demanding. I ran the same midi file with Ivory on my Desktop and did not experience the pops so I'm wondering what might be the issue. There are no visible Disk too Slow prompts from Ivory and the processor on the Receptor doesn't show any spikes. Would love for some input on a cure.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Brian,

I'm not sure what your configuration is, but I'm assuming you have a Receptor Pro, and have the full 2gig Ram (if not, RUN (don't walk) to your computer store, and fill up your machine with RAM)

Other than this, the convolution reverb on Ivory is a bit of a hog, and can fight for the CPU with more intensive streaming sample sets (eg for large instruments, like the Italian Grand).

Just as an experiment - turn off the Reverb (in fact all effects) and try playing - see if the crackles disappear.

Hope this helps, Regards,
Kevin L

Hi Brian

Did you run the Ivory Tools (Setup: Run Utilities: Ivory Tools, I think!). This scans the disc for any corrupt samples or missing samples, and that situation can definitely cause pops and clicks.

Ivory should run GREAT with 128 sample settings...and the fact that you are noticing clicks on just some of the pianos suggests there might be some problems with the samples themselves...

By the way... checking 40GB of samples takes a LONG time... so please don't do this right before you go on stage or start a session!

Cheers
