Brilliant news faya.faya wrote:Both the windows version and the mac versions of this update will be free for every existing sylenth1 user. Lennard says that's because this is how Sylenth1 originally should have been, so no extra charges. You get what you paid for
!! Lennard -please respond !!

..that's great news!faya wrote:It is (apart from the added preset browser in the 'screen section') exactly the same but it is all rebuild WITHOUT synthedit. The plugin is now 100% free of SE.ephrem wrote:..faya, are you at liberty to share a little about the GUI? Will it be the same but just SE free, or will it be totally different?

I'm glad about that, although I initially wasn't sure about the GUI design of Sylenth1, its really one of the easiest and fun GUI's to use.faya wrote:It is (apart from the added preset browser in the 'screen section') exactly the same but it is all rebuild WITHOUT synthedit. The biggest concern on my mind right now is regarding future Mac users wanting to use my soundbank. I have no idea if the mac version will import the current PC based .fxb file (I'm a PC only user with no experience of soundbank porting so far)

All plugin FXB banks and instrument FXP's are fully compatible with the new version and even cross-platform. Even the arps remain intact. In other words: fully backward compatible. It works like a charm, I can import the presets I made in cubase SX2 with the old Sylenth right here on my mac via the new built in preset manager which supports loading and saving FXP and FXBArksun wrote:I'm glad about that, although I initially wasn't sure about the GUI design of Sylenth1, its really one of the easiest and fun GUI's to use.faya wrote:It is (apart from the added preset browser in the 'screen section') exactly the same but it is all rebuild WITHOUT synthedit. Sorry to ask, but have any new features been added? Such as hard sync, FM, ring mod, more than 2 oscs, per voice saturation / distortion or proper PWM? Also, are there any new waveforms / wavetables ?
I actually really like this synth a lot and hope to buy a copy if there are some feature additions.
Cheers

No, only the preset browser is added but there already ARE 4 osc's and distortion effects. You DO know there is a page A and B on the GUI right? ...soundpalace wrote:Sorry to ask, but have any new features been added? As far as I'm personally concerned I'm glad he left the GUI as it was. It's one of the most intuitive and easy to play with GUI's on the quality market.
This V2 release is aimed at resolving the issues in some hosts, getting rid of SE and of course giving mac users their versions. As to why he chose the mac VST to go first, I think that has a more practical aspect to it, on the note of the programming itself. But then again I am not part of the development, I only test and do fuckloads of sound design with it

I for one am kind of glad LennarDigital isn't adding a bunch of new features. Too many times a nice elegant product becomes an unwieldily monster. I'm really happy to see AdmiralQuality releasing a version that's just a bit lighter on CPU use.
I'm not excited for a new version of Sylenth1. I am excited to use Sylenth1.

Oh man, no FM and Ring Mod??
Come on, this wouldn't have messed up the gui to much, wouldn't it?

FWIW - FM and Ringmod are more a synthesis structure than an 'effect' - to call them an effect implies that you could just slap it on the output of the synth and have the same thing - NOT.faya wrote: haha, don't look at me manI have this super sexy ringmod in logic 8 so I'm not interested in a built in one
no but seriously, there are already a bunch of very useable effects on board, ringmod and fm are not exactly the most used effects so they had to make room for the ones that are there. Lennard can't possibly include every single effect in 1 synth. Maybe he'll do something with FM in another instrument in the future? who knows
I'm curious if the new GUI retains the edited patch behavior of SE, i.e. changed patch settings are retained when going to other presets and coming back?
