The only information in that threat is coming from someone that joined 5 days ago and has 9 total post, all in LennarDigital. People are acting like this sock puppet is Moses.

It's been more than questionable from the start. I don't buy the whole mess, something is fishy.

Alright I just stumbled onto the discovery of Sylenth1. I'm in dire need of the Mac version so I can sell my Virus! Is there supposed to be both an AU & VST version or just one or the other? I'm hoping for at least AU.

Please forgive me for the off topic, but can you really consider replacing your virus with Sylenth? For instance, won't you miss the additional waveforms, this hard sync, PWM, ringmod .etc?

Would love to hear your thoughts

No, I've been waiting forever for a software synth that's IMO as warm and analog sounding as a Virus, and I think Sylenth1 is it. I used to have the Powercore version of the Virus, and it was buggy, which is why I sold my Powercore and the Virus plugin for the hardware Virus Classic. I just love working with software better, it's more convenient, and if I can have that plus great sounding then I'm happy. Having to record your audio and recall presets is a bitch / work flow killer. Midi controllers are for a hands on part of it. The closest software synth I've heard aside from this Sylenth1 that's on Mac would probably be NI Massive.

I have a access virus c and a powercore virus and when i had my PC i prefered to use the +z3ta ....the +z3ta is far closer to the virus than sylength shame they dont do a mac version.

Well I don't agree with you that it's FAR CLOSER, but I do agree that it's close as well. It does suck that +z3ta isn't for Mac.

Thanks for answering, really appreciate your knowledge on this one, I was almost ready to buy the PoCo with Virus since they have a free $500 voucher deal atm but they don't even support WinXP x64! let alone all the complaints about the Virus Powercore VSTi. But I agree that Massive is actually insanely good! You can really make it scream as much as the Virus I think, especially using the modulation osc. z3ta was excellent but for me, it lacked that hard distortion you find on Sylenth, the Virus and Massive (and Thor in Reason 4).

Massive also seems to have almost the full Virus TI featureset covered, excellent wavetables, all VA features, great fx and insane modulation. If you switch the oscs to formant mode, you get something very similar to granular synthesis that's just been added to the TI. The main thing missing is cpu efficient supersaw which (as much as people will start a trance war over) is very very handy to have, especially for pads (if nothing more than for filling in the background).

I think that if Massive could just be half the CPU usage it is now and add suporsaws, I'd not have considered any other VSTi softsynth mainly since I love flexibility. Sylenth has an amazing sound though, but just feels a bit limited in terms of sound design.

Hey no problem at all, I'm glad my opinion could be of help to you Did you get the latest update for Massive? It seems a lot more CPU efficient. NI's FM8 is excellent as well, but honestly I think Massive + Sylenth1 is the ultimate in hardware synth freedom. I actually just decided I'm going to sell my Nord + Virus now... I haven't been using them lately anyway just because ... well I'm spoiled with soft synth convenience. I'm really hoping that Sylenth1 comes out soon for Mac, but even if it doesn't I still think someone else will develop a soft synth for Mac that is just as good or better in the future. I think that CPUs are powerful enough now to really compete.

Thanks, well I'm just demoing atm, so I'm not sure if the demo on the NI site is the newest version, do you know what the version should be?

Edit: KvR says newest is 1.1.3 and the NI site has 1.1.1 demo

I'm pretty sure that the demo is the newest version out. Maybe it's just because I'm running a Mac Pro... On my system one instance hardly moves one of the 4 threads in Logic.

Yea, I probably will, but I'm going to have to wait till it's released for Mac. I actually can't wait to design my own presets with it, as I plan on using it as my main synth.

I sent Lennard an email yesterday and a few hours later he resonded:

I am a Mcbook Pro user (1st version) with Logic 8, and I have installed the VST-AU form Fxpansion in order to use Sylenth1. It works perfectly in Logic 8, no CPU load issue, the only trouble is the graphic issue where we cannot move the Sylenth1 window.

Yea, I've stated this before. Actually you have to close the GUI then reopen it to see it in it's new location as with any plugin that's wrapped in Logic 8.

I don't know if it's possible or not but is there any chance of a PPC (PowerPC) version for us slightly older Mac users. I'd love to purchase this synth but I've got a Quad G5 here that still kicks the ass off most Intel machines but unfortunately I can't run Sylenth.

Hey Colin, unfortunately it was stated already that there will not be a PPC version. Personally, if I were you and had that Quad G5 I would probably sell it while I could and purchase a Mac Pro. You might be able to break even.

The base model Mac Pro is a bit faster than the Quad G5, plus you would have a processor architecture that's currently supported.

Actually one of my good friends is getting a good deal on a used Mac Pro 2.66 Quad with 5 GB RAM (same as me)... $1700. He is upgrading from a Mac Mini G4!
