In relation to the comment i made in a previous post about the excellent new Scrub/Jog feature, i understand that some poor souls out there still use a mouse. (Just kidding.) :)

It's as simple for you chaps.
Simple 'grab' the triangle at the top of the cursor, and slide it back and forth as desired with the mouse, and the parameters are there to fine tune the response, including changing the action control, i.e., adding the ctl key to decide when you want scrub/jog to be active.

So mouseketeers and keystrokers alike get the benefit.

Not really, it IS mostly true for me. I rarely need to open an editor, and I just got 2 more reasons not to with a well-designed scrub/jog and cue markers added to Reaper's stella editing suite.

Now, you can let this go, or continue the trainwreck, up to you ... :D

And just to add to that helpful post, the middle mouse button defaults to scrub as well, just press and drag. I'm a keyboard mostly guy myself, but mouse scrub rules.

You can also configure the modifier keys how you like, set the loop length, limit jog and/or scrub to realtime...and more.

Did I mention loop-scrub was accurate to less than a sample? Somewhere way back at the start I wager. :)

And if you want to navigate by the new marker cues, then check this tip out:

I requested this a while ago, then worked out I could already do it.

Select an item with embedded media cues, and hit this macro to advance:

And to go backwards:

If you have other regions or markers in the project, it will stop on them along the way as well, but won't affect them.

If you don't have an item selected and use it, you will undo the last action...user beware! (really, just hit redo if this happens).

Hope this helps... :)

Bevoss, i'm writing this down.....

Thanks for the tip.

No worries Alex. :)

I rendered and imploded several takes of different marker sets (transformed to cues)to the one muted (dummy) item, and you can change to a completely different marker set just by hitting 'T'.

Just another bunch of ways of getting round the keyboard, without that infernal rodent... :D

Included in the Reaper 2.4 release is a jewel that's particularly useful for me, and that is the implementation of extensions, and extra actions.

Quite a few of the Reaper users are exceedingly clever fellows, and two in particular have built a series of extensions and extra actions in addition to the formidable library of options already available, as dll plugins.

Xenakios and sws have come up with a fine set of tools and utilities, that, for me at least, have rapidly become essential parts of my workflow, all keystrokable and where relavent suitable as components in macros, which makes my workflow even more efficient, and frees up the time i want to spend writing music.

There's too many to list here, but it's as simple as installing the relavent dlls in the Reaper plugins folder, and away you go.
These are available in the resources section of the Reaper site.

This works in Reaper/Wine/linux as well as windows.

KK posts in EVERY Reaper thread...almost always 'REAPER doesn't work for/appeal to me'...probably the highest post count of anyone here regarding Reaper. Is that contributing? More like a serial pest to me, and it's getting old.
You just can't say it enough, can you? Maybe if you keep saying it, it will become true? Seriously man, and with all respect, get over it. You have on more than one occasion in this thread made it a point to put me down. I asked earlier in this thread for you to back up what you said about me being obsessed with Reaper. You didn't. You conveniently ignored that. So you like to "push my buttons", but you refuse to actually say something with some backing? THAT gets old.

I even gave you a completely legitimate and honest reason why I still follow Reaper at all IN THIS THREAD. Yet, once again, you ignore that part. I ask for you to show me a Reaper thread(and I've asked in the past as well) where I started flinging the crap. Nobody ever showed it to me. It was always in reply to something else. And you seem to yet again ignore ALL the posts where I have recommended Reaper, and where I have assisted other Reaper users. I've made detailed posts of what I felt Reaper could improve in the past, and those posts were received well by other Reaper users here on KVR, to the point where they asked if I could repeat those posts at Reaper's forums. Of course, I got flamed over there for doing so by Justin himself. His reasons were that my opinions didn't matter because I wasn't a paid user. Oh well.

You seem to have some agenda against me, and you even ADMITTED to baiting. I don't care how much you help other Reaper users. Perhaps you're the most useful member over there. Means nothing to me though.

Regardless of your opinion of me, I am not going to stop posting in particular threads because you whine about it. This problem you think I have with Reaper itself is completely made up. I have no problem with Reaper, regardless of what it can or can't do for me. I have a problem with Reaper users who insist on saying crap that isn't true.

I don't have a personal problem with you because I don't know you. I'm sure if we met up somewhere it would be all smiles and no problems. But you don't know me, and you don't know my reasons because you ignore them. And if I bother you THAT much, that's not my problem. And if in any case I do say something negative about Reaper and that bothers you, then again, not my problem. Ya know, people ARE allowed to not like your little baby.

Now, to this thread. I didn't do anything that even resembles trolling. I discussed what I felt were the differences between AA and Reaper and why it's not really a fair comparison to make. NOWHERE did I trash Reaper. And any other accusations you cook up are exactly what YOU said you were doing, baiting.

Ok, that's off my chest. Rant over.

Bevoss,
Is this what you were referring too?

Bevoss, do you have a sampler that recognizes cue markers?

Damn, mosquitos are big this year... :D

Alex, there's a little thread you may have missed here, where I've tried to collect all the available plugins for Reaper (and a few non-plugin but useful anyway apps).

And a big thank you to Xenaios and SWS, I use their plugins every day. Brilliant work!

That's right Alex. In the render dialogue, you can specify to convert markers to cues:

and the actions that engage them are:

Reaper has turned out to be a good choice for many, and i can't see why those particular users can't post with updates, discussion, and even comparison, often based on experience, related to their own desired workflow, without what has become a predictable, somewhat tribal response from others whose intent seems to be keeping their own choice of app at the 'top of the hill.'
Without dragging this on too much, I think you have this wrong(my opinion). Reaper users have been very passionate about mentioning how great Reaper is compared to other apps. They do comparisons all the time, and they OOZE contempt for those apps.

Nothing wrong with that, if Reaper is what they prefer and it works for them. But they get REALLY passionate about it. A popular Reaper user used to try and make bets with people that they could do EVERYTHING in Reaper with audio editing faster than any opposing user could do in their own app. They were very insistent on that.

Again, nothing wrong with preferring one. But let's call it what it is: the same thing. It's the same thing that you accuse others of in your post. If it's wrong for one side, it's wrong for the other. And on SEVERAL occasions, Reaper users have ran into threads where Reaper was NOT being asked about or talked about and suggested it as an "alternative", despite somebody not even asking for alternatives.

It's just not as one-sided as you are making it out to be.

That being said, sorry for the yet-another extension of this mess. But this thread really wasn't about much in particular from the start.
