UVI Workstation (release)

Er well, I guess I spoke too soon... The plugin is working in Logic, but the stand-alone is still crashing when trying to close, after changing the audio/midi settings. The audio/midi settings dialog DID open this time, but still crashes when closing... I trashed the plist files to get past the point where it was crashing before (1.06)....

Why would he want to be a beta tester for you after spending approximately $150 on sounds? He may actually make music and depend on his software, which would typically mean NO BETA no matter how stable - that's how a lot of people work - especially those that do it pro or even semi-pro. Your answer is all well and good but he bought a program and has every right to want to be able to use it with a non-beta release version. I don't remember if that's still a possibility but if not, that's pretty lame. This all looks great and all, but still beta (no matter that it is free) and if he paid for sounds and expects to use them in a stable release version, that's pretty obviously valid.otristan wrote:Last beta 1.0.7 is pretty stable as plugin.BERFAB wrote:As a PSP owner, the email I got about the new UVI program was awhile ago. I'm not too keen on using a beta. Is there any indication as to when the actual release is due?

Some people have currently some issues with the standAlone though.
Give it a try !

He can try if he wants to.buscemi wrote: Why would he want to be a beta tester for you after spending approximately $150 on sounds? That won't jeopardize his work as PlugsoundPro would still work.
Those two plugins don't have the same ID and can be used together.
He didn't bought UVIWorkstation, he has bought PlugsoundPro.
UVIWorkstation is its future replacement. No upgrade fee moreover.
It's just that if he wants to test the future update before official release then he can, but it's of course not required.
I don't think that's lame.
Let me know if you think I'm wrong.
Thanks,

I must have been unclear, though I state specifically what he bought (PlugSoundPro) and you guys casually felt that "the beta works pretty well" was a good answer. I didn't agree. I believe he was really just making the point that the email doesn't state that it workstation was beta, a valid concern. As long as it is usable without requiring this beta software, no that's not lame. But it does seem like you guys push in that direction which isn't really great for those who prefer stability. Seems it runs well as purchased on final release-level software, that's cool indeed. I would just change the notifications you send to people to clearly state you are recommending beta (very beta, from the looks of it) software and also not casually recommend it here until it is release-quality.
Edit again: Looks great though, I'm not arguing that and I'm glad you guys are regularly fixing and getting it up to release level. Also, great news on the no-cost upgrades so I've got more positive vibes than negative, just to be clear.

Report re: Beta 1.07 -- My problems (see above last page) w/ standalone remain.DHR53 wrote:Er well, I guess I spoke too soon... Same here per the above quoted port, I too get the crashes after changing midi settings and closing the midi settings window.
AND the midi problem I described re: Beta 1.06 remains -- when you input midi with your selected midi controller, UVI Workstation stops from that point on outputting any sound, and makes no sound even clicking the GUI's keyboard. It's like hitting a key on your external hardware keyboard controller "silences" UVI Workstation. Only thing to do then is quit and restart.
Hope this helps you fix it

Ok,otristan wrote:We have fixed some stuff in there.spidermix wrote:Oliver,
I was confused about whether the stand-alone midi/audio related crashing was fixed with 1.07 or are you guys still working on it.
SpiderMix
There might be still some issue though.
Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
If I launch 1.07 I can select my Saffire but i get no sound (if I press the onscreen keyboard). Selecting my M-audio Axiom still causes the "spinning beach ball of death". Looking forward to 1.08!

preset saving crashes logic 8
sent a report to your email
still waiting for drag n drop audio to be implemented correctly
- by changing double and half speeds
- to see the wave form when i drop in logic
(more so the first than the second one) - but it is frustrating not to know what size wave you are you going to get before you drop.

if you use the audio from your audio bin it shows the region length but if its a file outside of the project from the finder then no...your right. its not really a big issue. but i do wish that the double and loop buttons would export like they are supposed to.
and couldn't you guys easily make the solo and mute buttons more apparent with some color. yellow for solo and maybe white for mute. its really hard to tell with a quick glance.
thanks olivier

Well that's up to the host to do this kind of display not us.Bass108 wrote:if you use the audio from your audio bin it shows the region length but if its a file outside of the project from the finder then no...your right. its not really a big issue. but i do wish that the double and loop buttons would export like they are supposed to.
If it doesn't do it from the Finder, then we can't do anything about it.
Regarding double and half, I remember trying and having no issue.
Does this happen with strech, slice or both for you ?
Thanks,

I ran into some problems when installing UVIWS, and not just 1.07. My firewall explodes with warnings when I install it. I know that this is the swing of things when installing anything on a firewall protected computer, but I thought that I should post the images so you can gather some info out from them:

I hope this helps you out.

it happens with every loop setting (strech, slice, and sample). in terms of playing the sample and changing half or double, its fine. but when you try to drag and drop the audio things get weird. change it to double and DnD, it might change. but now try to go back to normal or half; it will stay at double. it acts completely eratic...like, maybe if i try to go back to double, it will stay at normal speed. do you experience something different than this behavior?otristan wrote:Bass108 wrote:if you use the audio from your audio bin it shows the region length but if its a file outside of the project from the finder then no...your right. its not really a big issue. but i do wish that the double and loop buttons would export like they are supposed to.

Really? I looked at the web site and it seemed to claim a $99 upgrade. Which I'm not willing to pay, having just bought PSP.otristan wrote:buscemi wrote: He didn't bought UVIWorkstation, he has bought PlugsoundPro.
UVIWorkstation is its future replacement. No upgrade fee moreover.
Speaking of which, it doesn't validate in Logic Studio. Can anyone help me? I mailed tech support, but they are not responding.

1.0.7 has fixed this.
- they sell plugsound pro as a soundbank...instead of the 400 it used to be now its only a 100. the old .ufs reads in uvi...but the older .dat soundbanks it does not.

Sorry, I was going on statements in this thread but since it took me way too long to read through it the first time I'm not about to now. Maybe I was remembering wrong.VicDiesel wrote: Really?
