Hi there Jo.
After a crazy adapt period in my new job I had some freetime and have done some testing with MuLab and found the following things a bit odd or at least could not find a way to do these things.
-. Clicking in the upper right corner arrow in the rack brings up the vst used in it. I think it should have the option to close the instrument by clicking again in the arrow or using a keyboard short cut.
-. CTRL+left Click on a key in the piano roll could select all MIDI events in that key. Excelent for fixing wrong notes.
-. Is there a way to move all MIDI notes in the piano roll? There must be an option somewhere to move all selected notes a step at a time or an octave. I just get lost while trying to fix some notes in the piano roll.
-. Ghost channels like in FL studio? having the ability to "see" the ghosted notes of other channels in the same measures of the piano roll open at the time or the option to have more than piano roll open at the same time to "compare" notes.
-. Whenever I decide to open a new MIDI file. I get a new "session" opened. I think it would be great to have the option to "Open in current session" or "Create a new session for File" as I like to compare several files together to check the flow of the tune.
-. I'm still having problems getting used to the automation here, but It would be interesting to have dedicated automation "channels" and to be able to group them so they are all either tied up together or joined to a track.
-. Whenever I open the program it starts in an expanded view that I can't get rid of. I try to get the project saved in a compact view with the left side panels opened ina way I can see the name of each track, but everytime I re-open the project it is back to the expanded view. I have no idea if this is something done on purpose or a mistake I have made while setting up the program's defaults.
-. Will the racks be able to move? Not important, but I like to have the Master rack at the far sides of the rack and it ends up being in the middle when I start adding channels.
Well enough chit chat for now :D Have to go back to work as we have a couple things to do before lunch. I get paid for that. You know? :hihi:
Most these things will probably have a way aroun them I have not found yet, but as a host. MuLab is extremely stable and fast.
Kudos to you Jo. 8)

Not sure.

Because it could be that the editor window is partly hidden behind another window and then clicking the editor arrow on the rack brings the editor window to the front.

Closing a window is easy by the close button on the window itself right. Or by pressing [Esc] when it has the focus.
CTRL+left Click on a key in the piano roll could select all MIDI events in that key. Excelent for fixing wrong notes.
Already in there:

Right-click a note on the piano keyboard -> "Select All These Notes"
Is there a way to move all MIDI notes in the piano roll? There must be an option somewhere to move all selected notes a step at a time or an octave.
At this point notes are only movable by dragging with the mouse.

Or via the sequence functions in the context menu (Transpose etc...)

But i know what you mean, and got a note on that on the whishlist.
Ghost channels like in FL studio? having the ability to "see" the ghosted notes of other channels in the same measures of the piano roll open at the time or the option to have more than piano roll open at the same time to "compare" notes.
It's on the whishlist.

Not yet for 2.0 though.
Whenever I decide to open a new MIDI file. I get a new "session" opened. I think it would be great to have the option to "Open in current session" or "Create a new session for File" as I like to compare several files together to check the flow of the tune.
It's not creating a new session but a new composition within that session.

You can cut-copy-paste from the new composition to any other composition in the session if you want.

But also other users made a point on this and so it seems that there should be at least the choice whether to import the midi file as a new composition or merge it in an existing composition.

Now i wonder: when choosing to merge it into the current composition, where should the imported midi parts come? I mean, which track, which position?

I guess it would be cleanest / easiest to let the user define this via a dialog box.

What do you think?

All on the whishlist.

Oops, it's indeed not saved.

Fixed in Test C.
Will the racks be able to move?
Yes. Planned together with folder tracks. And although not yet for 2.0, it's planned not too far from here.

Cheers :)

Got it!

But that is one more step than simply CTRL+Left click. I guess it's a matter of getting used to it.

Cool :)

That's totally right. Composition, not Session. I just get slightly confused with the terms.

A dialog box would be fine. Just give the options to choose which way or you could even have the "extra" option to choose a default at set up.
I think other users should be asked about this as I am a bit quirky in the way I work and I feel like I don't squeeze all the potential out of the programs I use

Cool :D
Thanks for the reply. I'll test some more tonight when I get home and see if I can push this program a bit more.

True, one more click.

But the big advantage is that is conform the simple set of MU.LAB user interface guidelines, and so it's easy to find without reading a manual.
