The "Ambient Pads" was read-only.
So that was the trick Tick
Everything is working fine now -
The Rhino Error dialog said: "Error opening file" and then the destination to the bank.
All the best
Bo
Ps: I really like Rhino very much.

Tim, I noticed you've also posted 2 rhino banks on Patch Arena. Are these previously unreleased banks ?!?tconrardy wrote: Patch Arena is fast becoming an excellent resource. I would suggest members go there to check it out.
OH NO...these are the same ones. The news item said: "the two already famous Rhino banks".. I was going to submit them to the contest, but were disqualified due to being posted on another site ( yours of course) So I did another 1/2 bank so far of new sounds just for the contest, which we can release after its over.Hope this is OK. To be honest, It's kinda redundant since Rhino owners have to go to your site to get updates anyway.Big Tick wrote:Tim, I noticed you've also posted 2 rhino banks on Patch Arena. It's already able to come up with very usable sounds, although it is recommended to spend some time to finetune them manually. My goal is not to make a perfect DX7 emulator, as there are very good ones out there.
a good site to get SYX files:
Yamaha DX7 Resource Centre
http://www.thedx7.co.uk/
They have 8 Original Rom Cartridge sounds, other banks and related software and links to other DX7 sites.
Also my own DX7 page

There's an understatement! When I tried out the rom banks from the original DX7, it only took holding two notes for a few seconds before things choked up! Any hintsThe importer works pretty good.Tic and I have been tweaking it.The only thing you have to watch are the long Envelopes decay rates coming from the DX sysex files, as Rhino freaks out if you do more then one note at a time.
I was applying your Algorythmics to other Rhino patches, and it occurred to me: What Rhino needs is a save/load function on the sequencer page. That would make it far less time consuming to take say Algo1 and apply the sequencer settings to the AlaskaAs Tic said, you have to adjust and tweak the sound to taste. I might make a bank of my own DX7 sounds rhino-ized!![]()
( wish there was a rhino emotioncon)
Reducing envelopes release times will definitely help.dougbyf wrote:When I tried out the rom banks from the original DX7, it only took holding two notes for a few seconds before things choked up! Any hints
on how to reduce overload? (Besides reducing voices?)
Agreed. Consider it done for the next update.I was applying your Algorythmics to other Rhino patches, and it occurred to me: What Rhino needs is a save/load function on the sequencer page. That would make it far less time consuming to take say Algo1 and apply the sequencer settings to the Alaska

Ah, damn. I forgot about this one.... On the other hand, that's more stuff for 1.10. This and the soundfont import maybe...krhen wrote:No env modulation on filter resonance yet?
Doh! Of course, thanks. (Clutch slipping during brain startup-must go for major tune up! Cool, I had a good idea for once!Agreed. Consider it done for the next update.
However, if you do that with "Alaska".... ouch... you may as well rename the preset to "Instant Cpu Overload"
