I always have a hard time telling people what kind of music my songs are.
In this particular case I thought people might consider the percussion to be glitchy, so I put that label on it. I'm just not very good with genres.

I grew up in the 80's and explored tons of different styles of music throughout my youth.
Playing in a punk band (punk as in 6-inch mohawks) when I was 12,
from a number of metal bands to a blues band which turned more experimental with a vocalist who also was a front man in a Primus type rock band. This was particularly cool because it related more to the alternative/indie music I was listening to a lot in those days as well. Right now I play acoustic guitar in a Christian church. Go figure!

Electronic music started for me when I was doing all kinds of genreless stuff on my PC with fasttracker. I started exploring techno, house, jungle and d&b, electro, minimal, idm, ambient... It didn't take long for me to get a set of SL-1200's. Since my dad used to be a DJ I also had thousands of records from the 60's-80's in the attic so I had the chance to get familiar with a lot of different music.

Some artists that influenced me? Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Ween, Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, 4Hero, Ed Rush, The Cure, Frank Zappa, My Bloody Valentine, and many many more.

Anyway, I guess all this history somehow comes out in my own music

I went for a run today and loaded up some KVR tracks on my mp3 player to keep me company. If you didn't have the beat in here, I probably would've run slower. Good thing or bad? oh so good :) Nice piece, doesn't vary in structure too much, I thought it could use a section where you really strip everything back to just a little minimal melodic noodling and then coming back in with the full arrangement, maybe even another layer of beats as a finale. Just my thoughts, but my head is light and my legs heavy, so heed at your peril ;)

Good tune

about the glitch or not, I would I have used the glitch track in this to modulate the pad (gain or ring), so that it would not be just a layer of percussion over the song
I'd agree about the glitch part not communicating enough with the pads background. My take is that the pads sound analog and the glitch sounds digital, making it seem like the percusion sits on top and separate from the pads. Maybe putting some very light barely noticeable digital reverb on the pads, then put some very light barely noticeable analog reverb on the glitch parts. That would blend them timbrely without changing the song significantly.

The glitch parts were pleasant, but I like the warm analog pads the most. Mostly because I've been getting into analog ambient a lot these days :)

As always, I'm a bit late to the party, but this is just lovely!!
Really relaxed Arovane vibe that just oozes cool.

Sorry to sound so pretentious, but this is just a beautiful track.
I off to d/l some of your other stuff now :)

very 8) , core. I like it, the composition works with the sound for me, the high mids are really dreamy and connect with the bass while all the intricate stuff flickers through. I find I resonate greatly with your history, too! Perhaps wonderful pieces like this may lie in future, too. if not, I know where to get 'em :)

This is the sort of track I have to be in the right mood for, but I guess I found it at the right time tonight, because I really liked it. Personally, it's the glitchy beat that did it for me, but the pretty pads were nice too. :)

hi,

agree with runagate. I downloaded the song, listened to it, liked it, liked it actually very much, ate my pizza, came back here and read it was 'glitch'. I missed the glitch, but apparently this qualification refers to the drumparts (that I find very good actually). Can we do without qualifications? No we can't, but they can do without us.

Nice track Core! (simple tune eh? :) )

yeah, I think I'll just refrain from posting labels with my tracks in the future and just let you guys decide what kind of music it is :D

Thanks remmie! I did the beats with a Kontakt drum kit + a bunch of effects.
