Excellent stuff, dark vibe with soft melodies and classy glitch/mashed-up stuff (drums)

This is very nice but at risk of being savagely attacked by the unwashed hordes I think I'd have preferred it without the glitchy stuff

Everyone is free of their own opinion. I love the song the way it is. Nice flowing drums and a nice melody. I like. Alot!

It's not everyone's cup of tea, but every now and then I just can't stop the glitch from happening

Ronnie, simple is better sometimes, I liked this, <grin>

about the glitch or not, I would I have used the glitch track in this to modulate the pad (gain or ring), so that it would not be just a layer of percussion over the song

I personally don't see it as a "glitch thing" but an "intricacy thing"

I don't know from glitch - the rekkerd contest opened my eyes to the fact that there must be some sort of stylistic conventions out there that people are making reference to that are completely unknown to me.

For me, it's like having stomp boxes. I never stopped pouring over fx lists on gear back in the day (uncommon behavior for a sax player, I know). 5 years ago I'd have been hard-pressed to even name 10 fx. Now I've got so many that I'm an afficianado of ones there's not even names for, let alone genre conventions yet. Give us time, we're creating the dropping science in realtime right before your eyes.

Look past the glitch. I like core's music, but I don't think he, and someone like justin, and certainly not I, share but a tiny little bit of common ground in our musical fundaments.

It's sort of like comparing Lee Scratch Perry, Ween and Sonic Youth for their prominent use of feedback-y delays and phasing!

And think about it: we're consciously partially leaving out parts of old paradigms when we compose this way, based on timbres and textures - these things we barely available to anyone until 50 years ago! Of course they're not wholly integrated, and of course using chunks of past musical styles and motifs meshes a little awkwardly with new techniques - because of our expectations... core and blortblort, in particular, are mad scientists of artfully melding the aesthetics in such endeavors, while I gleefully use no reference points and exclude many things I personally love from my songs just because I can and I'm seeing where this'll take us. As a fan of Bungle I have given no little thought to genre-mutations and mixes, and core obviously is referencing a very deep 30-year tradition of quite a number of elements with his own personal twists, an notably not twisted out of recognition, and I really think that's something. It's not easy, it's an art all to itself, and the vast majority will never even try it let alone master it. Notably the European tradition of chordal movement is something that was not accessible for us to experiement with until the last couple of years when we could afford and access the technology and information - it was simply out of our reach!

That being said there's a fine line to be tread between pushing new sounds and jumping on the bandwagon. core utterly leaps over that particular hurdle with aplomb.
