Zebrafy - any news...

Just wondering, but having played around with WarmVerb for a few days I started to compare it, with the effects built into Zebra.
I found a few threads mentioning Zebrafy, and figured that if it is going to be a multi-effect unit too, I should wait, rather than fork out for WV.
Any chance of a screenshot, demo, or even a guestimate on its release.....

Sorry, things have been pushed back. The lack of a visual design is the major factor for not showing anything.
WV looks interesting, but doesn't sound like my cup of tea. I have no intention nor plans to release anything similar.

And so do MFM2, Filterscape and Uhbik-X (tba). Any of these however are based on the assumption that effects being just stacked in some sort of fixed signal flow are pretty boring - but that a "more than the sum of its parts" emerges out of their interaction, i.e. due to modulations, realtime midi control, host synced lfos, envelopes etc.kodama wrote:But Zebrify will do multi FX, so you might want to check it out.
If one just seeks nice fx that can be put together in a rack of some sort, there are other good alternatives, i.e. Korg Legacy Cell, Chainer, stuff from SugarBytes. Not all of these allow for fx within the delay feedback path, but to be honest, the use of that is limited. There are many delays that cover the useful ranges.

Actually, just checked their stuff and this is more along the realm of my philosophy. Seems intrigueing!Urs wrote:SugarBytes.

Thanks for the replies Urs, I checked out SugarBytes Artillery, but at more than twice the price of WarmVerb, is not an option for me. I was under the impression that Zebrify was going to be free for Zebra2 customers, and that it would pretty much duplicate what WV does.

Zebrify will be free for Zebra users, but it doesn't have "High-end quality reverb algorithms", "SuperStrings", "TalkBox", "Presence", "Dolby Prologic II compatible surround encoding", "Stereo enhancing", "Stereoizer", "Feedback Module", whatever these things are meant to be within the given context (I probably have to try the demo to see what these things do).John-E34 wrote:I was under the impression that Zebrify was going to be free for Zebra2 customers, and that it would pretty much duplicate what WV does.
Nevertheless I'm convinced that Zebrify will deliver great effects especially because of the vast modulation options. In fact, I think Zebrify will play in a different league. It's a very ambitious project because it's not just gonna be a Zebra with audio input. Instead it requires some specific adjustments, which I'm still working on...

I figured I'd dig up this thread and ask here rather than start a new one...
Will zebrify still have midi input and oscillators? So I can make a patch that say... Uses a zebra osc to ring mod the audio input? Or even just use zebrify as a monosynth version of zebra where I can put compressors and such inside the signal chain?
EDIT: Also, will there be a price increase when zebrify comes out? I don't really need another synth right now, but I'd probably make sure to buy zebra before zebrafy was done if it would save me money (since I definitely want zebra after it's done)

if you get the latest Zebra (before the next update) you will find a nice "bug" in there,
a audio input
only the FX rack modules work so no XMF
but the comp is lovely & the other FX are good aswell,
Urs said this is a bug & causes Zebra not to be seen as a synth in some hosts,

Unfortunately, Urs is fixing it for the next releases. It's my favorite bug ever.djsubject wrote:if you get the latest Zebra (before the next update) you will find a nice "bug" in there,

Maybe he's secretly built himself a robotic companion that has been working on zebrify 24/7, and the next update will include that

From what I understand, it will be a monophonic full version of Zebra with 2 added benefits: processing of audio and the effects can be placed anywhere in the chain.
So the answers to your initial questions seem to be yes.
FWIR, the price will not change.
URS is on vacation and we're all hoping this is on the top of his list when he gets back.
