Installing Scarbee VKFX on Receptor??

Scarbee Vintage Keyboard FX with the D6-C Filter plugin is listed as an "unsupported plugin" "Known To Work" on a Receptor.

We purchased the plugin and followed Scarbee's documentation on putting the 2 .dll files and the 2 .dat files in the Unsupported Plugins folder on Receptor's Hard Drive.

The installation went fine, but when we try to open the plugins' graphic interface, this consistently crashes and restarts Receptor.

We are using the latest update {as of August 12th, 2008} of Receptor Remote and the version of VKFX that we purchased is 2.02.

Does anyone have any experience with running this plugin successfully on Receptor??

Thanks!

Hi atopfer,

It's been a few OS'es back since I installed VKFX, but I have installed it successfully, and continue to use it on Receptor OS 1.7.

From memory, I don't recall installing a '.dat' file (but this is probably my faulty recall) - I simply remember putting the .dll in the unsupported plugin folder, and hitting the 'install' button on the 'Setup' page.

You might wish to try to re-install, or try to "flush the plugin cache" (Hold the 'Multi' button and triple-click the power button) to see if this makes any difference. Also, check the system log (in the reports folder) to see if there were any particular errors logged about VKFX.

Kevin L

Kevin L:

Thanks for your assistance. We are still having the same problem.

One issue is that the Scarbee documentation for Installing on a Receptor states that we are supposed to install the 2 .dll files and then 2 .dt files. The problem is that there are no .dt files anywhere in the Scarbee folders on our host computer. {never heard of such a critter...a .dt file?}. We assumed that the .dt was a type-o and they meant .dat.

In any case, it's still not working.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

Where exactly did you install the files? And did you try copying them again just in case there was a data error?

We copied them to the "unsupported plugins" folder in "program files".

let me look into this a bit with 1.7 software and verify that things are cool. In the meantime, you might want to consider trying to install it again.

I added it last weekend on 1.7. I had the older .dll (whatever version was current last November before v. 2.0 came out).

Thanks, groovology.

We've actually tried installing and re-installing it several times. All of the .dll and .dat files {4 in total} were put into the "unsupported plugins" folder as per Scarbee's own documentation for Installing on a Receptor.

We also sent this documentation and the system log to Muse Research.

Sounds like the problem may be the Scarbee VKFX 2.02. Hmmmm...

Think you could be right, see if you canget the old version, as far as i am aware there is no sonic difference between the two. I also had the old version working fine on mine 1.7, but installed it at 1.5 or 1.6 OS, can't remember

Ok...I dug up an old demo download from Version 1.2 and this was able to install and it didn't crash the system when I opened the editor. The problem is that it is a demo version and there appears to be no way to authorize it with the serial number that Scarbee sent. The Prefs menu won't open to enter the serial number in demo mode.

Does anyone have any ideas now that I got something to work?

The point is, 2.0 obviously does not work with Receptor, it's probably something very simple to fix, but until then you need to get the previous install. If I remember rightly VKFX has a Receptor version, although the standard one works fine too. Contact Scarbee and explain the situ. He will help Im sure

I realise that this topic is a couple of years old, but if any was wondering, VKFX v2.0.2 works perfectly on a Receptor Pro (OS 1.8)
I am using it with the Kontakt version of Scarbee CEP. The best Rhodes sound by a mile..

PS I installed it with the "unsupported plugins" method

That's OK mal7, I, for one, appreciate the update. Any news of s/w that can be loaded onto Receptor is GOOD news! BTW, what Receptor OS are you using? 1.8 or earlier? Are you on Receptor Pro 2 or 1?
