I would like to get some ideas of how people are controlling their receptors global tempo when synced externally. Specifically, I would like to hear from those who have found ways to do this live without a laptop or external sequencer. Has anybody come up with a method to generate a MIDI tempo that allows for live manipulation, such as tap tempo or a knob control? How about Komplete users controlling any of the programs internal tempose from a keyboard or other controller? I am trying to get my setup as to be as simple as possible and still have the flexibility for live tempo changes of loops and effects. Any success stories?

honestly, coming up with a simple live rig that can set the clocks of all the midi gear has been a challenge - to the point where I would rather mess with some knobs on a physical controller to set effect times manually. Way too many variables for time in my live situations .. and the few songs that it's 'fixed', i'm running a sequencer out of the motif, which provides the clock where I need it.

Thanks for the link. This may be the ideal solution for some situations where I am playing solo for dance classes and need to be able to use loops and change tempo on the fly.

In the SETUP window you can set Temp Source to External MIDI. The problem is that MIDI clock slips over time, especially between different hardware. The best solution I have found is to retrigger notes running arpeggiator and don't sustain them. This hides the slip. Also note that the Receptor tempo is store with any Multi patch.

I am imagining using the 34oneII as master MIDI clock to the receptor and running several VST's, such as Kontakt and Absynth, syncing to the receptor tempo. Has anyone on the forum had success keeping this sort of setup fairly stable? In general this will be for solo applications, but some amount of steadiness would be desired!

Hi everyone!
This 34oneII seems to be an interesting solution... Has anyone tried it with Receptor specifically?
Does it change the "main" tempo of the Receptor, so that all the VSTs are synced to it?
Many thanks for your help!!!

I've got a 34One, and it works well - I reckon I'll get one of the 34OneII's, because they have a few extras that I'd find handy (MIDI power option, or external power supply option).
I use it once a week with Receptor with no problems.

yeah it's been solid for me too, and yes all the vst effects (or effects on vsts) will sync to that tempo .. IF the plug supports midi sync. some don't (and I'm happy about that!)
the challenge is definitely trying to send to all instruments in a larger rig. My best solution was using my edirol um880 to sort out all instruments that send midi (including the 34one) and use it to merge signals on certain outputs as needed. Requires a decent amount of pre-planning and it starts you down a road that makes you feel like you're playing in 'Yes' or something .. which gets silly for little weekend gigs .. but fun to think through anyway.
