Congrats on the release Greg! *Very* exciting!! Can you say something about the bass guitar that was sampled for CoreBass: Cherry?

I know it's a pity, but it's because Kontakt has a very powerful scripting engine which lets me implement the technology that makes the sample set so playable.MoreDread wrote:Gregjazz wrote:Kontakt 2-3 only
Kontakt is by far the most preferred sample engine according to a poll on NorthernSounds, so that was what encouraged me to make a Kontakt-only library.

I popped for the Cherry. It sounds very nice. I can play bass but this can be useful for times when I don't have one available. I think I bought some of your old soundfonts that sounded good also but this seems to be more alive and realistic.

Hi Greg,
just a few ideas/questions, after using it for a few hours: First of all - great stuff! The bass sounds and behaves very nice, and playing a convincing bass via the keyboard is really really simple with this instrument.
However, I once in while get a somewhat sluggish response or even stuttering playback (not very often, though, it's still very usable!). I suspect this might be due to the scripting adding delay, but I couldn't really pinpoint the reasons. Might be CPU hit or a streaming problem as well, or my system (it's a MacBook Pro with Kontakt 2). If I find out more, I will let you know.
Furthermore, I wonder whether there is a way to manually choose the samples/articulations? The script is great, but sometimes, you might want to fully control the articulations. Maybe, you could add a traditional key switch version as an update later on?
Cheers,
TQ

At the end of the day, I could not resist. Like EZDrummer, this is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for: professional-level detail, without the fuss of crazy keyswitches, etc! Can't wait to try it out!

In terms of the stuttering, I'm not sure what's going on. The script doesn't deal with any sort of delay. Try running it from the standalone Kontakt to see if the problem is still there, as it may be a latency issue.tq wrote: However, I once in while get a somewhat sluggish response or even stuttering playback (not very often, though, it's still very usable!). Good idea. I am planning on having an update (free, of course) in the future--especially if I sample amp/cab impulses, which is something I'd like to do and include in all my bass/guitar products.tq wrote: Furthermore, I wonder whether there is a way to manually choose the samples/articulations? Oh man, this bass if off the charts. I just flew it into an old project from my last album that required fingered bass, and man: it just mixes itself! I'm not sure if I would even apply compression to this, it's just even; no plosive frequencies, awesome bottom end...sounds like a tracked bass. Amazing.

WOW.
The bass works really well in the mix. Great song and production, too! Excellent, I'm really impressed!

Thanks Greg, glad you liked it! Seriously, you mixed the hell out of this bass library; the tones are so even, and I haven't even explored the more advanced features. It works, right out of the box.Gregjazz wrote:WOW.

Now I'm extremely pissed off that this came out after I was done!...although I think I'm going to have to remix for the next one...

Thanks!! You made my day.
I think I do need to make a plectrum version. With the 4x round robin, that'll make the upstroke/downstroke picking especially realistic. I'll also put in some scripting to track pick direction, since a lot of bassists use conservation picking rather than pure up/down cycling.
