Did you order the TWS in the USA? How long did it take to get it? Did it come with the IK software on DVD as well?
Thanks for the tip...I will try that.

I ordered in the US from the IK website, and they sent it 2-day UPS, but charged me for shipping.

I did not, however, receive the install DVDs. I can download the full installers from their user area, but I am going to have to pull all of the samples (27 gig!) from my Receptor HD apparently...unless anyone has more information.

FYI,

I ordered mine July 10, I was told "due to demand your order will be shipped in 10 days", actually shipped July 24 (ground from CA to FL), received July 31.

I was charded FL state tax - since IK headquarters is here in FL.

I did receive the install CD's however.

Quite happy with this box - though the updates on the plugorama site do not install.

Will full versions of Amplitube 2, Metal, Hendrix, and x-gear be able to be installed on it? I know it has the lite editions but what if I want the full deal?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks.

Ben was close on his answer to this... kinda like the American Women's Gymnastics team. Sigh.

Actually, Amplitube 2 comes PRE-INSTALLED on the "TWR" (Total Workstation Rack) as we call it, along with Ampeg SVX, and T-RACKs effects, but you will have to authorize it with a serial number to use it. There is a bit of a trick required during the authorization process, but that is documented and as long as you follow the instructions you'll be fine. Or you can call Rick. Or Torin. Or Vic.

And Amplitube DUO and Ampeg UNO come pre-installed and pre-authorized, so even if you don't own Amp 2 or Ampeg SVX you'll get to hear what a version with fewer presets sounds like. And they sound great!

As for Metal, Hendrix, and X-gear, those don't come pre-installed, and we'll have to make an installer for these, but they should be just fine for user installation. This is the first request we've had for these other guitar plugs, but we'll have to get on 'em.

The issue of installing Amp2 on Receptor has been resolved in the TWR. Actually, all Receptors could run Amp 2, but it requires changing some characteristics on the disc that will require you to reauthorize any service center software you have installed... contact Tech Support if you want / need more info about this.

Hope this helps.

I've been playing around with the sounds that come with the Workstation, and I am very pleased. In fact, I have been looking for a good piano sample, and was trying different sampled and modeled pianos to replace my Kurzweil PC2x (I have to leave it in Chicago). I thought I had my Kurzweil turned up when I realized that I was playing the Stereo Grand patch from Sample Tank...sweet :D

As far as I can tell, it only takes up about 350 meg or so of memory too, and the reverb is good enough to leave on. I do have to set the Receptor to 48khz 32 samples to really get that responsiveness and 'sparkle'; cpu was idling at about 20% and I was able to play like a madman with no artifacts.

I also found that the layered piano and strings sound close enough to Kurzweil for me too. Hopefully TruePianos will be working on Receptor soon though because I think I liked this even more that the K.

Just my opinion of course...
