Hey Gregjazz
I just logged on to orangetreesamples and purchased this. Just could NOT resist!!! This sampleset has such an awesome sound.
I can't wait to get home and download it and start playing around with it. I REALLY hope you do setup a deal with an upgrade path for slapped and picked or something for us folks who jumped right on this with no hessitation
I can't wait to hear what's coming next. Oh, and those midi loops would be an AMAZING addition as well...hope it happens!

I just finished sampling the slap bass. It's all mapped and playable (very playable, in factidolo1co wrote: I REALLY hope you do setup a deal with an upgrade path for slapped and picked or something for us folks who jumped right on this with no hessitationI can't wait to hear what's coming next.
I think I'll start working on loops, and whenever I need a break from working on this slap bass (and then picked bass after this), I can build up a loop library for free for customers.idolo1co wrote: Oh, and those midi loops would be an AMAZING addition as well...hope it happens!

Here's what the slapping sounds like already:

Again, all played in through the keyboard, no keyswitches.

Quick question to all of you: how would you like the loop library to be organized? Obviously tempo and key are not so important, as the loops can be transposed and the speed changed. The most important thing is probably genre and tonality, right?

Tonality like minor, major... or more specific if appropriate (i.e. specific modes--there could be some cool phrygian loops for example).bduffy wrote: "Tonality"? Like "soft" and "heavy"?

mellotronaut, looks like you flunked outta theory with me!
Oooh! Minor/Major/Pentatonic/etc would super for choosing the right riff more quickly. Yeah, that's a great idea!

Actually I like your format best... so something like:mellotronaut wrote:genre, tempo and tempo range, tonality (smooth, hard, melodic, rhythmic)

Genre - Tempo - Tonality - Mode
For example:
Funk - Slow - Smooth - Minor
Sound good? I'm using relative terms for tempo, since it can be slowed down or sped up. Also, it can be transposed, so key is not an issue.

And we can use EZPlayerPro for transpose and Drag n' Drop!

An official demo of the slap bass: http://www.orangetreesamples.com/audio/ ... -demo1.mp3
(played through the keyboard)
I'm really excited about this! Work on the picked bass starts tomorrow, but right now... sleep.
