Direct Install Not Complete?

I finally got around to trying to reinstall stuff through direct install. I figured it would be a better install than doing the copy everything yourself, duplicate the registry, etc routine. So I started with Absynth 4. Direct Install went fine except that there was no call to the install cd. It only referenced the zip update file. So there is no sample library installed. I could move it over myself to where it should be but can this be right? I thought direct install for the ones online should at least be complete. If it was not going to install something but relied on the user to put things in place wouldn't that be said as part of the DI instructions for Absynth 4? Am I missing something here? Has anyone else tried this install? I have my original absynth 4 install cd and then the 4.0.5 update file. At the end of the install there was a little message about not calling for the disc whatever that means. So how do you do this to get a complete install that uses data off the install discs as well as the latest installer? Or do I have to go back to the brute force method?

It seems to me that I just went through this, and I finally realized that I was on the wrong tab on the Direct Install page. Depending on which tab you select, it will either install from the CD, install an update, or install any patches, etc.
And the installations always seemed to end with Direct Install looking for a CD even though everything was complete...so this is normal?

Which tabs are you referring to? Do other installers have separate tabs for cd or update installation? I search for Absynth on the DI page. Get to Absynth 4 install page. The only tabs I see are summary, install plugin and install patches. I pick install plugin and you get a file box with the name of the downloaded absynth 4.0.5 update zip file already there. There is no other choice. All roads lead to Rome it seems. I tried to pick a different file but it wants a zip so the installer file on the absynth cd won't work. I could zip it and rename it but that seems more work than it should be. And again the instructions say nothing about any other steps than grabbing the install file and going. Don't know how this is supposed to work.

The very first tab is the 'Summary' tab which has a big 'Begin Installation' button. That is the button you press to install from a CD...
The tab should be called something else, or they should add a 'Begin' tab.

None of the tabs work for me. The install under summary takes you to the same as the others which looks for the update zip file not the install cd. I put in a support ticket so we'll see what they say.

For those who are interested the reply from support was that for NI stuff Direct Install only works with Komplete. So if you own an individual product like Absynth, Reaktor, etc. like I do you have to do it the old fashioned way for now until they add DI for the individual installers for single NI products. Oh well.

I installed Reaktor 5 and Kontakt 3 just fine (I do not own Komplete) using Direct Install...but these may be the exception.

Then the installer on your install cd must be compatible with their current DI process. Looking at mine I'm guessing the problem is my install cds are older since they all call for a serial before doing anything which is not what the current installers do. NI went through several iterations of their service center process so I'm guessing if you have a recent installer cd it could work but if it is a couple of years old then maybe not. Thanks for your input John; I had hope there for moment.
