bduffy wrote:Ah! You're up. My registered e-mail is down, on the worst possible day (missed a client today too, dammit!). I don't have the promotional code. I wrote you from the email link on the website - was that the right contact email?
I can't seem to find your email... give me a PM here, or email me at gregjazz AT gmail DOT com, and we'll sort out the promo code, etc.
Thanks Greg, but twas all for naught. My normal email is back up again, just in time for me to semi-switch everything over. Anyway, I got my code, you got a repeat customer, and I'm downloading now! Can't wait to try out my alternate-16th note basslines!! :hyper:

Thanks
Awesome!

Thanks for the purchase, and enjoy!

There's at least two of us here in Vancouver who match that description! I'm looking forward to quickly and easily adding nice-sounding bass to the few projects I've remembered to tune my instruments before recording. :hihi:
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Dude. Are we long-lost brothers?

You forget to tune your stringed instruments, too? Maybe it's something in the water.

Well, if I don't forget, then my cheap Mexi-Strat does it for me. Especially if I have the audacity to, like, bend strings or something!

So am I correct in saying that there are no velocity layers in this library? I was surprised to see single samples going from 0 - 127!

1 gig of no velocity layers!? Maybe the script switches them?

Oh, there are TONS of groups; round robin, release layers, some kinda slide/legato/hammer-on&off scripts...but I don't see velocity layers, although that doesn't seem to affect the sound much! I don't want to spread any rumours, though. Intrested to see what Greg says, I don't remember velocities coming up yet...

There aren't separately recorded velocity layers. The velocity of a note will affect the script articulation choices in some cases. In the picked edition, lower velocities have more milliseconds of "pre-pick" noise inserted before the note. (the delay is extremely minimal, and feels natural playing or played back from sequenced MIDI, but the pre-pick noise adds so much to the realistic picked sound)

The reason I didn't sample velocity layers was because I wanted to have a good amount of round-robin samples as well as the samples for the intelligent legato, and I wanted the libraries to be as conveniently fast to load as possible.

Off hand, I do remember putting in a velocity sample change in the slap bass's mute pop note.

However, I am seriously considering adding modeled EQ changes to the free patch updates (which will be released next) for all three libraries. Basically I would sample many velocities on the bass and then analyze the EQ changes between these different volumes. I would then script these EQ changes into the Kontakt bass libraries.

Thanks for the info! The EQ change sounds really interesting...boy, you can do some cool stuff with KSP, eh? :D

Yeah, I think the scripted EQ will really add a lot of life to the velocity range. KSP is amazing!

Sweet! Look forward to that: it's already very realistic.

In other news, the complete CoreBass Cherry bundle is now available: http://www.orangetreesamples.com/index. ... roductId=4

The discounted price accounts for the slapped and picked products being on discount currently, and also accounts for the customer discount codes.

As I've mentioned, the next thing to be released is a big, free update for all the CoreBass Cherry libraries.

Here's what will be in the update:

- Intelligent round robin for all the libraries (right now only the picked bass has scripted round robin)

- Mod wheel vibrato

- Velocity range modeled with EQ

- Slide mode while holding sustain pedal. With this, you can create slides from any note to another.

- Manual mode: get direct control of selecting articulations whenever you want.
