Hi, 2 TEST D I think

I'm a fully paid up member now.... :hihi: ...Thats version 2 with serial number and the racks across the bottom of the page isn't it???

OK I've been having a go on this and sometimes it's hard to know whats bugs and whats not...here goes.

I had a problem. Loaded up a Linplug Alpha in rack 1 slot 1; created a sequence; named it; set a MIDI channel say 1.

Loaded up Linplug RM3 in rack 1 slot 2; created another sequence; set MIDI to 10 for this. When alternating between the two instruments in the rack by highlighting with left mouse click the first instrument was lost; couldn't hear it;?

So I deleted the drum synth then the Alpha synth could be heard again. I thought to myself is this supposed to be like this??? bug?

Two synths in one rack each having seperate sequences on seperate MIDI channels myabe this needs a look at.

I did have another project with the same setup but with the exception of having the two synths in seperate racks...and there were no probs playing a MIDI keyboard.

One thought I did have is one rack meant to be for one VSTi??? and the remaining rack slots for fx??? - I thought maybe but surely not why not have six VSTi in rack slots if need be.

Gee hope you can make sense of this......

In the MU.LAB racks, the signals flow from top to bottom.

There are two types of signals:

1) Audio
2) Events (aka MIDI)

If you route a sequence from the composer towards rack A, then the events come at the input of rack A, and so they come at the input of the first vst synth, which plays the notes. But most vst synths do not output the events that they receive at their input. So in this case there are no events anymore 'below' rack slot 1, and so that's why synth 2 doesn't play anything.

And at the same time it explains why you don't hear the first synth because the first synth outputs audio, but most synths don't have an audio input, and so the audio of the first synth stops (i.e. cannot flow further) below rack slot 1.

OK,

So is it the way to have your VSTi only in slot 1 of each rack??? - And then use fx in the remaining slots??? (sometimes it can take me a little too long to grasp certain concepts so now is a good time to improve this... :help: )

Try to visualize how audio and events stream like water (audio is red colored water and events are blue colored water) from top to bottom in the racks, but if there's a plugin in a rack that doesn't pass thru the water, it stops there.

It depends from plug to plug whether it has audio and/or event inputs and/or audio and/or event outputs.

Typically a synth has only an event input and only an audio output which explains the problem you encountered.

OK thats fine I've already improved witht this. I ilke this software and the potential use for this for me is obvious although working tout the modular part may take a little time...
r
On other programs I've used it's insert fx or send which I have a basic idea of....

After a little more time it will all start to make more sense...

Getting used to the grpahics and where everything is and how it works is the first thing to get sorted. :hihi:

Good luck, and enjoy :)
