I just downloaded the mu.lab 2 and can't figure out why it doesn't reproduce a sound. When I hit spacebar or press play it doesn't do anything. I'm sure it should because mixdown produces mp3 song 30 sec long.
How can I make it work??

Have you got an ASIO driver on your system? If not, you'll need to install one.

Yes, I've got ASIO4ALL v2.4
I don't know maybe there's better ASIO driver for my Conexant High Definition Audio device.
In MU.LAB it recognizes the driver and both the inputs and outputs it recognized as Conexant HD Audio... I can't see the reason why it won't play.

Have you got any other ASIO software working with ASIO4ALL?

I haven't tried yet. I bougth the laptop recently and this is the first thing I tried.
Maybe you can recommend any useful freeware to test? (I am freeware fanatic - no cracked software at all.)

Hey, some questions:
1) When you startup MU.LAB, do you get a message "Couldn't start audio engine"?
2) When you goto the MU.LAB Edit menu -> Audio Setup, then do you see ASIO4ALL as the audio device there?
3) When you hit Play (or spacebar), do you see the position line moving from left to right?

1) there is no error message
2) in audio setup:
ASIO Driver = ASIO4ALL v2
Samplerate = 44100 Hz
CPU Load Limit% = 90
in Select Inputs I have Conexant HD Audio Input 1 and Conexant HD Audio Input 2 both checked;
in Salact Outputs I have Conexant HD Audio output 1 and Conexant HD Audio output 2 both checked;
3) when I hit Play (or spacebar) nothing is moving - I cannot activate playback! So I think that driver could be OK. The problem is somewhere else.

This implicitly means there is something wrong with the driver, i.e. the driver is not 'running'.gba3 wrote:when I hit Play (or spacebar) nothing is moving - I cannot activate playback! So I think that driver could be OK. The problem is somewhere else.
Maybe the link Engine posted could help?
Note that for low latency and stable playback it's recommended to use an audio device with a proper ASIO driver.

I have HP DV2000 laptop with AMD Turion 1,6GHz 2GB of RAM with running WinXP HE SP2.
I tried wavosaur with that driver - it worked. After driver removal, it didn't. So did MU.LAB still, but at least gave the message "couldn't start audio engine".
I've red the forum topic you gave the link. It seems similar but not quite the same. I noticed that with hardware acceleration switched on the audio input was "beyond logic" (not working).
As I didn't know what kind of driver to look for I found Digidesign ASIO Driver 6.1.1, but that one was even worse - as there were no ASIO driver at all. So I removed that one too.
Now I've found out there's new version of ASIO4ALL - v2.9 beta2. I guess I'll try this one.

Please forgive my newbie question, but I have been unable to find a solution. I had two of the problems listed above, and this thread was very helpful in fixing the "Couldn't start audio engine" problem, so thank you for that. I am still having issued with the "play" button, however. I can click on tracks and racks and open everything I can think of just fine, but the "play" button is still completely unresponsive. I got the ASIO4ALL driver installed, and like I said the audio enging message went away, but still nothing with the "play" button. Help please!mutools wrote:Hey, some questions:

I think that means the ASIO4ALL driver isn't recognising your soundcard. Have you the latest beta of ASIO4ALL?
