Er… five months is now "a couple of months"?

Apparently, Mr. Cochran is on the PC side. "Very stable" - tell that to a Mac user and you're likely to receive a reply that, let's say, wouldn't go down well with the moderators.

Sheesh.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Where can one buy it for $29?
Go to the 'product registration' link at Mackie and register:

http://my.mackie.com/profile/member.asp?t=rp

Don't worry if you don't have a product to register quite yet!

Once you create an account and log in, you'll see a yellow banner "Upgrades and offers available here". Click it, and have your credit card ready. You can get the downloadable version of T2 for $29 and be off and running 15 minutes later.

Hi and thanks for contacting us
I don't know where you would get that kind of idea. Tracktion 3.0.4.8
was just released a couple of months ago and before that, there were
months separating other releases like 3.0.4.6 and 3.0.1.x. Who told you
that it was discontinued? Btw 3.0.4.8 has been very stable so I assume
that there will have to be new features rather than bug fix releases
next.

Please answer the following question:

Is Tracktion's future development discontinued (will Tracktion continue
to be updated?)

Thank you,

Drew

Good job, it only took 5 pages for someone to step up and actually ask mackie.

I find it funny that everyone is trusting someone from 1st level helpdesk as being the absolute truth. They have absolutely no clue about development or company policies ( i know as I work as a deployment and second level helpdesk myself) ans this specially from a company who made it very clear in 2 mails that " Mackie has no intention ever to offer Tracktion as a download product" or at least that is what they told me a couple years ago so Ihad to go and buy from another user :? for the great offer of 99$

So, we have heard from Mackie on this issue. I guess this raises the quetion: "when are we going to be satisfied with Mackie's response"?

I'm trying to rationl about it and am failing .....! I know from my end I suppose I will not be satisfied that Mackie are still developing this product until we get either a new update or news of an upgrade.

I feel that I should be happy and relieved with the email response that virtualsamana got, but stubbornly I am not.

Even if this Help desk guying is lying through his teeth then so what. If T3 goes away then we move on to a new host...maybe it is for the best. I bought T1 because of Jules support and the price but that has gone away.

It is a very ignorant response from somebody in technical support who should surely know better? Very strange...

Anyway, suppose the next version is indeed full of new features, and presumably called T4. I wonder what the stores will then do with all their STILL unsold copies of T2 and (if they ever bothered ordering/stocking it) T3...? Just curious

As my studio time is very limited, and I liked to try out different software, I've not actually played with Tracktion for a while. I'm still at the v1.6 NFR release that was available briefly before 2.0 came out. I found Tracktion very usable and liked working with it a lot. For those who really feel like they need to move elsewhere, I'd suggest taking a look at mutools MU.LAB. It's got PC and MAC versions, a very involved developer, and a decently dynamic forum here. It's not Tracktion, admittedly, but it does have some interesting corresponding features, such as a modular plug-in area that provides a capability quite similar to rack filters.

Frankly, I'd be happy to hear that Mackie had a new version of T coming out, and since I'm on a PC, I probably wouldn't have the stability issues others have. But, if T = Orphan, MU.LAB might = worthy successor for at least some of the folks here.

Yes, Mutools Mulab 2 is coming soon, and I really love it.
For me, Tracktion is still the best, but I was disapointed when T3 came out because the old bugs were still there. Now we have that Mackie guy that say "I assume
that there will have to be new features rather than bug fix releases
next. ". It's really a shame because Tracktion need bug fixes to be the best, and some improvments on the new features that came with T3 (Folder track, Global track, ...).

What I like with Mulab is that the developer is very close to the users and answer to every question in the forum, and one of his main goal is to make the most 'bug free" software as possible.

Hey, just so you know - I happen to have Beno's e-mail address at Mackie - sent him a note pointing to this thread and a similar one on the official Mackie board - back when the thread was only a page old or so.

It didn't bounce back (I was wondering if he still was employed there), but I haven't received a response either.

I REALLY hope all the suspicion that T is over is unfounded, but I agree that there has been little to zero evidence of life for T on the message boards or in the press. No advertisements, no reviews etc. Doesn't bode well.

That could definitely be good news.

My guesses in ascending order of likelihood:

1. Beno is sick of dealing with us.
2. Beno is busy.
3. Beno has been told by the manager whose head is exploring his colon not to bother responding because controlling information is way more important than having any happy clients.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Err, two weeks and not even a peep from the Mackie folks? I'm guessing there are many happy users like myself who are getting a bit concerned by the silence.
