phatty wrote:Quick questions about FX:

1. How many FX per layer?
Four per layer + 4 Common = 12 FX per patch :-)

and all the effect parameters are integrated into the synthesis engine. :-)

Yep...you can route all the mod sources to the FX parameters. :-)
2. Is it going to be the same FX as in RMX?
Oh yeah. Plus a number of really nice new ones geared for the synth.
3. Any new FX modules for Omni?
Yes!
4. Will the new modules (if any) be included in an update for RMX?
Not commenting on RMX right now.
5. Any chance for a separate multi FX plug in?
Same answer as always: That's not really our interest.

Spectrum ( it sounds like chatting with the bad guy of a James Bond film , by the way ) , all the sounds we have heard till now are clearly on the spectacular side , which is natural in times of promotion and releasing . How do you see Omnisphere in terms of all-around sounds ? . I'm thinking of the magnificent Zebra , that you mentioned some days ago , capable of complex sounds and also of intimate and elegant ones . Do you see Omnisphere as an all-around synth too ? .

Absolutely, without a doubt. :-)

That's why it took so long to make. It covers a LOT of sonic territory.

That's a KVR flame war I'm not looking forward to... Zebra vs Omnisphere.... It will be even worse than reaper vs cubase or...well anything vs reaper. :phones:

BTW Eric, you hinted at the power strings. Are those the great strings you can hear at 5:50-6:00 in the secound video?

By the way 2 . Shouldn't you be sleeping ?

No...please. I certainly hope that's not the case!

Zebra is an amazing synth.

Absynth is a wonderful synth.

The goal of Omnisphere is not to take anything away from what has been created, but rather to add something special and new to the palette of what has come before.

The world is big enough to handle a few really cool synths....don't you think? :-)
BTW Eric, you hinted at the power strings. Are those the great strings you can hear at 5:50-6:00 in the second video?
Yep.

I don't do that.

Of course , a Zebra - Omnisphere war was not my intention . It was just an example .

this is my last pestering question

it is about amp envelopes for the samples

one of the really cool features of ableton's humble little simpler is this

creating very short and tiny and moving looping amp envelopes
very unusual rhythmic, stuttering and tonal sounds can come out from very plain samples

so how small and short can a looping envelope be for a sample oscillator?
can they go down to one cycle?
I just tried this technique for the first time in Omnisphere....it works! :-)

That's an extremely cool technique BTW. :tu:

Especially because you can modulate the envelope speeds and rates, so you can get some nutty glitchy and lo-fi stuff happening!

I'm going to do a bunch of new "Mazz" patches using that technique now in your honor.

Expect to see some of those in the 1.01 Patch Library update.

Thanks! 8) 8) 8)

I have a feeling that after the 15th, a LOT of people will be joining you.

Now I know which preset I'll be looking for first

And BTW I have Absynth and Zebra. Both are brilliant at what they do, and neither has pushed atmosphere out of my VSTI folder....

EDIT: BTW (Yes I just finished watching the videos again  )... Are those Genelec 8020's I see a lot? I'm thinking about getting those, so....
:help:

1032s mostly in the studios.

But we have 8020s, 30s and 40s around too.

Can't go wrong with their stuff IMHO.

Thank you Eric. I was blown away at the shop, but it's always nice to hear it from the pro's.

For an explanation of all the excitement surrounding this I think you ought to have a look at Spectrasonics' previous products as well as the marketing they've done specifically for Omni.

I've wanted to have Atmo for a long time after having had a few chances of trying it and I finally bought a few weeks ago. Most of the time when I get a new synth or sample collection I'll spend some time quickly going through the presets and only stopping at a few ones that I like, but I've quickly realized that going through Atmos sounds is going taking me way longer (I probably still won't have a decent grasp on its contents when Omni is released) simply because there's very little in it that comes across as filler to me and I tend to want to stop and play around a while with almost every sound (which is perfectly in line with the impression that I've had earlier when I've had a chance to try it).
