OT i know i know for almost two years I just lived with a machine that was at time 3 yr's old... when I built it, it was the 'cutting edge' [right, for about 15 minutes] It's not Williams fault that he looks at and writes for the current technology... I mean look at Propellerheads for example... some of the support apps for Reason will ONLY run on win XP..., look at Virsyn, their vsti CUBE need SSE cpu or it won't even install... Adobe with the newest Premiere and Encore, same story... so ... I lived with an older machine as long as I had to and just accepted it. I still have 4 perfect old Atari's stashed away in my barn... but I don't expect Dash will be writing for them anytime soon... LOL

I'm impressed that Athlon 1 Giga doesn't have SSE, that's strange. I got here a 1.2 Athlon and it has SSE.

I wonder if my PIII 866 MHz will really have SSE as an Athlon 1 GHz doesn´t have it.

Ignore clock speeds for this.

P3 & above do have SSE instructions
Athlon (thunderbird & below cores) do not have SSE instructions
AthlonXP (palimino & above cores) do have SSE instructions
Duron (spitfire & below cores) do not have SSE instructions
Duron (morgan & above cores) do have SSE instructions

In all cases, for SSE instructions to be recognised a clean install of windows MUST be done AFTER the installation of a processor that supports SSE. A reinstall over the top of an exisiting non-sse install will not guarantee SSE support.

this is getting to where is should move to it's own topic really... but just to say, now that is the stuff I find really disturbing about SSE and Windows... that to have it work, you need to do a clean install... just think what that means! Let's say you have a pc with a year or two worth of apps, plugins, etc installed.... in my case that takes months of work... and then you get a new cpu.... and you have to start from scratch! [This btw, is exactly the situtaion I am in and I deeply resent having to go thru years of installed stuff all again]

That we don't have an OS which is smart enough to pick up on the insatlled apps when you put it in is a real shame.....

On the other hand, maybe it suggests a new OS or cpu name:

Then MS Sysiphus "you get to do it over and over and over" ...all for the same overpriced cost!

Max, the next beta will be out Sunday or Monday. We are now making some fine-tunes on parameters and displays. I will also work more on samples to make those better. We will also add RAW waveforms by the next week, to allow more sounds possible.

I allready found a bug on the Transpose that will be fixed on next beta.

Ya, it's called rebuilding the kernel. If you ran Solaris, it be as simple as reboot -- -r, but alas you're on Windows. I'm sure if it was as easy as 'change one driver' they'd do it. Obviously there's more involved, hence the reinstall.

Devon... actually in my case, it's about the drivers that the mobo and the bios use and then some very basic drivers the chipset installs into windows... and yes, 'if' I was using Solaris that would be swell, but then 'if' I was, how would I run all the audio apps for windows???? so it's between a rock a hard place and 'the big ouch'...

still... I am sure, it would be possible for MS to create an OS that did things better.... not that I'm a lover of the Mac systems, but they do have this ability... it's more about how they use 'pref' files for progarms instead of a registry database I believe.

As you likely know, on a mac, you can just toss all the old app's pref files and they will get rebuilt when you next launch the app.... If windows had something like that... well, let's just say it would be a better OS... IMHO.

...just rambling OT William while we wait for your next beta... forgive us...

NEW BETA UPDATE 18

Guys, here is another BIG update, and I mean that, since we added more samples and also updated all samples.

The Complete download is large, 46meg, but you can still download only the Update to test it out.

- Fixed Denormal on Chorus (we find the problem)
- Faster LFO speed
- Slower Pitch-Envelope speed
- Pitch-Envelope now goes up to 12 semi-tones (one octave)
- Extra samples. Also, better high-ranges on ALL samples.
- Mellotron and PE2000 samples tuned properly.
- Preset-Bank options enabled on the global-menu. 3 Presets added.

Please, test it out and let us know how it goes.
