If you mean the big-bang experiment at CERN institute, don't worry: the Spectras will for sure sample itKLS wrote:Gosh, I just thought of something. Omnisphere - will it be worth the hype ?

Did not think this question required a new thread so here it goes. The library being very large I was wondering if you can selectively chose to install only the libraries of your choice and if they could be installed on a different disk that the one where omnisphere is installed.

I don't know if you can just install part of the library, but Eric has stated that using an external drive works, so it looks like putting the library on a different drive (internal or external) from your main drive will work fine. I hope so, I just put a new drive in my computer for streaming samples.pierreb wrote:Did not think this question required a new thread so here it goes. As long as they don't go setting fire to it i'm ok with that.FrankT wrote:If you mean the big-bang experiment at CERN institute, don't worry: the Spectras will for sure sample itKLS wrote:Gosh, I just thought of something. Yep! My guess is they'll use the impulse response of the experiment and feed the lightbulb sound through itmusikmachine wrote:As long as they don't go setting fire to it i'm ok with that.FrankT wrote:If you mean the big-bang experiment at CERN institute, don't worry: the Spectras will for sure sample itKLS wrote:Gosh, I just thought of something. I got a feeling that all the Omnisphere ravers are paid or something.
How can people hype up a product 2-3 months before it is released?
I am not falling for the hype and i am perfectly happy with what i already have

There is nothing wrong in looking forward to a new product but i get suspicious when a few people are hyping up a unreleased product.hibidy wrote:Why would you think we are paid? Now, one COULD think you are having a fun on

It's all good.........I understand.
I think this is a product that people are actually waiting for though because it's by a company that is full of "shock jocks"
and has been in the waiting for so long (remember, spectrasonics didn't attend the 2007 namm) because of this "new and improved" product.
For me, I'm excited simply because it will ALLEGEDLY open a new door to computer synthesis.
I am also happy with what I have, but look forward to the future and hope it's as ground-breading as other spect' products.
Hope that doesn't sound too salesman-ish, I just feel better about some of the things spetra' is doing vs. "other" companies............

all that it comes down is that the license doesn't allow you to rent out the product like you would with a compressor, mix console or guitar.bmanic wrote:
Indeed! Awesome! That is exactly what I'm doing anyway all the time, being engineer or producer so this means it's green light to get omnisphere!
at the same time, you can keep the artistic freedom when collaborating or producing with others.
as far as the hype thing goes, Eric Persing is THE sound designer.
his sounds were used on more songs than Elvis sold records.
he has never been a letdown on the quality side either.
with options like the dual sound-engine (key-range controlled live preset fades), step-sequencer like multi-destinations arp (almost Energy XT 1.4 like control over midi input), groove-to-controller drag & drop (fast loading of groove templates/option to use them as controller triggers), Omnisphere seams like a new kind of a Performance Synth.
nice for both, the studio AND the stage.
from what I've heard and seen so far, this is going to be a really good product.
I need a decent surround setup though. there are a couple of surround-capable synths out there and I still can't use them.
it's like playing a game in HD on a 15" screen sitting in the next room.

If you actually research the product(videos and kvr statements by Spectrum currently),and understand the specs of what Omni can do,it is quite amazing even with the poor quality in the youtube video's it's noticeable if you listen to how crossfades(live mode) and granular synthesis this Synth is like nothing else so far, why are you suspicious when you can freely learn what we have learned thus far. Also if you knew who Eric was, and which very good Roland synths he's programmed sounds for ,this again would help you understand.
Throw in a whole bunch of other talented sound designers on Spectrasonics team known for good quality work and products to back it up, again this would help you..
It just so happens that many of us understand these few basic things and your having a problem with it,but there's more people here who do get it.The hype is only in your mind, many are past this and realize it's now upon us this synth is going to be an epic.. Yes it's 499.99 bucks will it be worth it.. YES how hard is something like this to understand,a hardware synth like this, would cost 10x as much..

that's not even the point. in a DAW/VST based environment, you have routing options that you can't find in the hardware world. and for the end-user, no matter if in the studio or on stage, the question is: "is it an instrument and can I play it?".bobbybland wrote:YES how hard is something like this to understand,a hardware synth like this, would cost 10x as much..

I am just wondering about the countdown...it will end at 9am GMT. (Which I am quite happy with), but Spectrasonics are US based and that would mean 9am GMT is something like 5 to 9 hours ahead of US time zones. That being the case 9am GMT would be sometime between midnight or 4 am in the US (give or take a few hours) depending on the exact time zone.
Maybe Spectrasonics are aiming to have a very late night Website update on the 14th to ensure there is no time lag of 5 - 9 hours on the 15th where there is no update of pricing info for European customers.
If the website is updated at 9am PST or something that would be (I think) about 5pm or 6pm GMT. That cannot be possible because the timer would have to have another 8 hours added to it.
Glen or Eric...is the countdown for the actual update of the site or just the day of release? It's just a simple matter of hours now (so a minor oddity), but you guys need to sleep even though Eric said he doesn't do that
